Role:
The Commissions & Sales Ops Specialist sits within Sales Operations and manages Sales and CX incentive compensation programs, ensuring alignment with corporate revenue goals. You will work closely with Sales, CX, HR, Finance and Accounting to ensure accurate mapping of incentive plans and support territory and headcount updates, manage and process monthly and quarterly incentive payouts, investigate and manage disputes, and ensure adherence to approved discount strategy. You will complete monthly submissions to Internal Audit related to incentive plans. This position plays a key role in driving sales performance while ensuring operational accuracy, scalability, and compliance. This role requires high attention to detail, strong excel skills, cross-functional collaboration, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
Responsibilities:
Sales and CX Commissions Management
- Support the development of annual and quarterly incentive compensation strategies aligned to company revenue goals.
- Monitor plan effectiveness using performance analytics and recommend adjustments.
- Own the end-to-end monthly commissions cycle including data pull, validation, calculation, and payout file delivery, meeting Finance's close deadlines without exception.
- Ensure timely and accurate calculation and distribution of commissions and incentives, including monthly reports and calculators upon payment to employees and managers.
- Support the implementation of compensation systems such as CaptivateIQ
- Develop reporting and dashboards to track sales performance versus compensation outcomes.
- Analyze plan effectiveness, cost of sales, pay-for-performance alignment, and return on investment of incentive programs.
- Serve as the first point of contact for commission disputes: track Asana log, investigate, and resolve within a defined SLA; presenting a recommendation to the Sales Ops Manager in preparation to CRO’s approval.
- Maintain the commissions source-of-truth (CRM, Salesforce, or equivalent) and flag data integrity issues proactively, before close, not after.
- Partner with Finance to ensure commission accruals are accurate and audit-ready each month.
- Ensure compliance with legal, audit, and financial controls related to incentive compensation.
- Maintain documentation of compensation plans, policies, and procedures.
Discount Governance
- Administer the discount approval workflow: review requests against the discount matrix, approve within authorized thresholds, and route exceptions to the appropriate approver.
- Conduct a monthly discount reconciliation, comparing approved discounts to what was invoiced and produce a variance summary for Finance and Sales leadership.
- Identify patterns in discount requests (frequency, depth, by rep, by segment) and surface insights to the Sales Ops Manager and VP of RevOps to inform policy updates.
- Ensure discounts are accurately reflected in the CRM and billing system to prevent downstream revenue recognition errors.
Sales Operations Reporting and Tracking
- Monitor sales teams’ performance using salesforce dashboards and trends analysis
- Investigate gaps in revenue from closed-won opportunity to billed revenue
- Serve as the first point of contact for billing discrepancies raised by customers or the Finance team; investigate against contract terms, quote, and SFDC record.
- Support system and tooling enhancements (CPQ, billing, CRM integrations) in partnership with the broader RevOps and Sales teams (new and existing).
- Support in the tracking and management of Commercial vendors including tracking and reconciling utilization with POs
- Support in other Sales Ops responsibilities
Skills and Experience needed for success in this role:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 2 years in Sales Operations, Revenue Operations, FP&A, or a Finance/Accounting role with commissions exposure
- Hands-on experience running a monthly commissions cycle (Salesforce, CaptivateIQ, Xactly, or similar)
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets proficiency — XLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data validation are table stakes
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management tools (e.g. Salesforce) and processes
- High attention to detail; comfortable owning processes where errors have direct financial impact
- Clear written and verbal communication — able to explain a dispute resolution to a rep and a variance to a CFO
- Working knowledge of AI tools for operational tasks — you have used LLMs or AI-assisted tools to accelerate document review, summarize deal terms, or automate recurring operational steps
Preferred:
- Experience in a SaaS
- Familiarity with CPQ tools (Salesforce CPQ, DealHub) and billing systems
- Experience building or improving SOPs and process documentation
