About Finch

We believe every American household deserves access to counsel in life’s biggest moments. At Finch, we’re building the infrastructure to make justice radically more accessible. Our modern approach to consumer law automates the admin work and puts clients first, starting with personal injury.

In just over a year, we've grown 10x, raised a $20M Series A, and become the pre-litigation partner of choice for top personal injury firms across the country. We believe the best outcomes happen when expert operators and purpose-built AI work together – which is why we handle every step of pre-lit, from intake and claim opening to medical records, lien management, and demands, with humans leading every case.

We’re backed by Sequoia, Redpoint, and the founders & CEOs of generational companies like DoorDash, Ironclad, and Digits. We’re rebuilding how the law serves everyday Americans from first principles, and we’re hiring exceptional operators to help us scale it nationwide.

👋 Note from Alex

Hi! I'm Alex, Chief of Staff @ Finch. Part of my role since I joined Finch has been maintaining our financial infrastructure and adding complexities. As we continue to grow quickly and prep for major scale, we’re excited to bring on our first Finance hire.

We're post-Series A now, which means debt strategy, credit decisions, and real forecasting aren't optional side quests. Within your first 90 days, you’ll own invoicing, banking, and cash/investment decisions. You'll run a full forecasting cycle alongside our CEO, and you'll become the person in the room who challenges how we spend/invest, not just the person who reports on it afterward.

You'll report into our CEO, and build the function from the ground up, at a company that moves uncomfortably fast. If that sounds exciting rather than exhausting, we’d love to meet you.

This Role

Finch is post-Series A, and the finance decisions in front of us (debt strategy, credit facilities, real forecasting) are no longer things a founder can handle on the side. You'll be the first functional Finance leader at the company, working directly with our founders to build the financial infrastructure a company at this stage actually needs. The people relying on your work are the founders, the board, and every team whose plans depend on knowing how to reasonably invest in our growth.

What You'll Do
  • Own invoicing, banking, and cash/investment optimization end-to-end — no more founder sign-off on routine finance ops.

  • Build and own our debt and credit strategy, including evaluating financing structures as we scale post-Series B.

  • Partner with our CEO and exec team on company-wide forecasting — a shared exercise, not a solo handoff.

  • Sit in strategic and spend conversations across the company, and push back on decisions that don't hold up.

  • Set up the regulatory guardrails and financial controls Finch needs at this stage, without slowing the business down.

  • Build the systems and reporting infrastructure that let a fast-moving startup make confident financial decisions.

  • Help define what the finance function looks like as we scale past this hire — this role will evolve as the company does.

Who We Have in MindMust-Haves
  • You're a strategic finance operator, not a controller – you shape decisions in the room, not just report on them after.

  • You have debt and credit fluency, or the demonstrated speed to build it fast – this isn't optional post-Series B.

  • You've directly owned invoicing, banking, and cash/investment optimization at a prior company, with the maturity to run it independently.

  • You have a track record of stepping up – senior manager/director-level FP&A or controllership at scale, now ready to own a function solo (or, earlier in your career, 2–3 years as an M&A banker with a track record of early promotion).

  • You have a growth mindset, not a guardrails mindset – you build systems that let a company move fast, and your default isn't "no".

Nice-to-Haves
  • Prior finance leadership experience inside a post-Series B or similarly-staged startup.

  • Direct experience partnering with a hands-on CEO or board on forecasting.

  • Legal tech, B2B SaaS, or vertical software finance background.

  • Comfort being evaluated in real time – this process includes a live case component, and people who enjoy that tend to enjoy this job.

This Role Might Not Be For You If
  • You do your best work when the finance function is already built and your job is to maintain it.

  • Your instinct is to build process for control rather than for speed – we need someone whose default is "how do we make this faster," not "no".

  • You want a full finance team around you from day one – for a while, it's just you.

At Finch Legal, we believe in practicing what we advocate.

As a company dedicated to upholding justice and protecting people in the workplace, we are equally committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment within our own walls. We welcome and support individuals from all backgrounds and lived experiences — regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or veteran status.

We recognize that diversity strengthens our team, enriches our perspectives, and empowers us to better serve our clients and communities. At Finch Legal, inclusion isn’t just a value — it’s a practice.
