The Role

As the Financial Controller, you will own US accounting, reporting, and compliance functions end-to-end. This role is perfect for someone who excels at financial multitasking—from day-to-day bookkeeping to technical GAAP decisions, tax filings, audits, and building processes that make the company more efficient every quarter.

You should be equally comfortable diving deep into spreadsheets and ledgers, automating workflows, leading month-end close, coordinating with external auditors, and ensuring spotless compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

We’re looking for someone with insane attention to detail, mastery of US GAAP, and strong international and US tax knowledge—someone who will raise the bar for quality while helping us move quickly.

What You’ll DoAccounting & GAAP Ownership
  • Own and maintain our general ledger in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with precision and speed.

  • Develop, document, and refine accounting policies and internal controls.

  • Reconcile and maintain all financial accounts—revenue, expenses, payroll, deferred revenue, etc.

  • Ensure accurate recognition of revenue, capitalization, accruals, and expense classification.

Tax, Compliance & Payroll
  • Manage US federal and state corporate taxes, including quarterly estimates, filings, and planning.

  • Oversee international tax compliance, including cross-border entity structures, and transfer pricing coordination.

  • Own payroll compliance, including payroll taxes, filings, and working with PEOs/providers.

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and ensure timely, accurate filings across all jurisdictions.

  • Keep up with regulatory changes and proactively adjust systems and processes.

Financial Reporting & Audit Management
  • Prepare internal reporting, management dashboards, financial packages, and variance analyses.

  • Support external reporting, investor updates, audit preparation, and due diligence requests.

  • Lead annual financial statements preparation and coordinate external audits and reviews.

  • Deliver clean, timely financials that support strategic decision-making.

Process Innovation & Operational Excellence
  • Build and optimize scalable financial processes across accounting, billing, payroll, and reporting.

  • Automate wherever possible—bring creativity to eliminate manual work and reduce error risk.

  • Evaluate and implement financial systems, tools, and workflows.

  • Collaborate across teams to support growth and efficiency.

What we are looking for
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including Big 4 or public accounting exposure.

  • Deep expertise in US GAAP and financial statement preparation.

  • Hands-on experience with US and international tax, including compliance and planning.

  • Experience managing audits, multi-entity structures, and complex reconciliations.

  • Extreme attention to detail and a passion for getting the numbers exactly right.

  • Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

  • Familiarity with modern accounting tools.

  • Experience at a startup where you built processes from scratch is preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills and willingness to dive into the weeds when needed.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity

  • Comprehensive health insurance including dental and vision

  • 401k
