Hex helps thousands of teams explore, analyze, and act on their data every day — and as our customer base grows, so does the opportunity to deepen those relationships well beyond the initial sale.
We're looking for a Commercial Account Manager to own a dedicated portfolio of existing SMB and Mid-Market customers. You'll be the primary point of contact for renewals and expansion within your book, working to understand how customers are using Hex today and where there's room to grow — more seats, new use cases, deeper adoption across their data team.
You'll report to our Account Management Lead and be one of the founding members of Hex's Account Management function — a chance to build a new motion inside a fast-growing company, not step into a playbook that's already been written.
On any given day you might find yourself:
- Owning renewals and expansion across your assigned book of existing customers (accounts 6+ months past their first renewal, SMB and Mid-Market)
- Proactively surfacing expansion opportunities — additional seats, new use cases, upsell — that tend to get left on the table once an account moves past its initial land
- Running your own forecast across the book, with quota split 70% against a growth (NDR) target and 30% against a retention (GDR) target
- Partnering with Sales Engineering and Customer Engineering support to run technical conversations with existing customers
- Helping define the AM playbook and territory model as one of the first people in the function
- Coordinating the AE → AM handoff for accounts moving into your book
To be successful in this role, you:
- Have 3+ years owning a book of business in SaaS — account management, renewals, or a customer success role with a real commercial/quota component
- Bring a track record of driving expansion, not just retention, in existing accounts, ideally in technical or data-adjacent software
- Be comfortable being one of the first people in a new function, with no established playbook and no precedent yet for what "good" looks like
- Be able to run a genuine commercial conversation (this is explicitly not a CSM role) while partnering closely with SE/CE on the technical side
- Be disciplined enough to run real pipeline/forecast hygiene across a large book, not just a handful of strategic accounts
- Bring genuine enthusiasm for cross-functional partnership — Sales leadership, SEs, and the AE team you're taking handoffs from
In addition to our unique culture, Hex proudly offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched salary & equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off.
The on-target-earnings (OTE) for this role is: $200,000 - $215,000.
The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process.
