About Vega

The $250B insurance claims industry runs on fax machines, phone tag, and adjusters buried in paperwork. Cycle times stretch for months. Data is locked in legacy systems. And the workforce is aging out faster than it's being replaced.

Vega is the premier AI-native claims TPA built to reimagine that entire stack from the ground up. Our team is equal parts experienced insurance operators and modern technologists. We care deeply about delivering superior outcomes for our clients, and we want builders that get their hands dirty shipping solutions that move the needle.

Our results: 10x YoY revenue growth, and on track for $XXM run-rate in under 2 years. Backed by marquee VCs like General Catalyst, Lightspeed, and Valor.

About the Role

We are looking for a Founding Talent Partner to build the team and culture that defines Vega. This is a high-leverage, zero-to-one role for a people operator who can think strategically about both human capital and the human experience — and execute relentlessly on both.

This is a 90/10 role: most of your time is recruiting, the remaining is building the people infrastructure that makes Vega a place exceptional people want to stay. You won't inherit a playbook — you'll write one. You'll partner directly with the CEO and founding team to hire with precision, design thoughtful people programs, and help shape a culture that scales without losing what makes Vega special.

What You'll Do

Talent Acquisition (90%)

- Full-Cycle Ownership: Own sourcing through close across all functions: engineering, product, and go-to-market. You run the process end-to-end, partnering with agencies and other resources when applicable.

- Proactive Sourcing: You won't wait on inbound. You'll identify the profiles we need before they're looking and build pipelines ahead of the requisition.

- Hiring Manager Partnership: Push back on vague requirements. Define the right profile. Hold the bar even under pressure to fill seats fast.

- Candidate Experience: Every touchpoint reflects Vega. You'll ensure candidates leave the process — accepted or not — with a strong impression of who we are.

- Talent Strategy: Advise leadership on compensation benchmarks, market dynamics, and where to invest hiring resources for maximum leverage.

People & HR (10%)

- Onboarding & Integration: Design and run an onboarding experience that gets new hires up to speed fast and embedded in Vega's culture from day one.

- Performance & Feedback: Build lightweight but effective performance frameworks, review cycles, and feedback culture — rigorous without being bureaucratic.

- Employee Relations: Be the trusted resource employees turn to. Navigate sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and sound judgment.

- People Operations: Own the systems, policies, and processes that make the day-to-day work — from HRIS and compliance to PTO, leave, and benefits administration.

- Culture & Engagement: Design programs and rituals that reinforce Vega's values, strengthen team cohesion, and make this a place people are proud to work.

About You

- Experience: 6+ years in a people function with meaningful experience as a recruiter, building world-class teams at a high-growth startup (Series A-C), and in helping shape team culture

- High Bar Operator: Quality is non-negotiable — in the candidates you bring in and the programs you build. You hold the line even when the business is moving fast.

- Builder Mentality: You thrive in ambiguity. You've built from scratch before and know how to prioritize ruthlessly when resources are limited.

- People-First, Outcomes-Oriented: You genuinely care about the employee experience — and you understand that caring shows up in clear processes, honest feedback, and real accountability.

- Closer Mentality: You run tight recruiting processes, create urgency without pressure, and win competitive offers on mission and culture — not just comp.

- NYC-Based: Our team works together in person (3-4 days a week), and you'll be embedded in that culture from day one.
