We are seeking a Freelance Writer, Finance to create authoritative, editorial-quality financial content for one of the most established names in financial services, a brand trusted by millions to help them plan for their futures. We are looking for a personal-finance journalist or editorial writer who can build out long-form, educational, and news-driven financial content that is both authoritative and speaks clearly to everyday people. You will write financial education articles, financial news, and consumer-focused financial content that explains complex topics with clarity, credibility, and care.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Write long-form, educational financial content that takes complex topics and develops them into well-structured, informative articles
- Produce authoritative financial content that speaks to regular people, alongside financial news and financial education articles
- Research topics thoroughly, identify credible primary sources, incorporate insights from subject-matter experts, and distinguish between facts, expert perspectives, and marketing claims
- Translate financial concepts such as retirement, investing, insurance, taxes, saving, and financial planning into clear, accessible language without oversimplifying
- Apply AP style standards consistently and accurately across all written content
- Bring a credible author perspective and bio that helps drive visibility and trust
- Collaborate with editors, strategists, and other team members to ensure content meets editorial and client standards
QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS
- Experience as a personal-finance journalist or editorial writer, ideally writing long-form consumer financial content for established editorial publishers
- Demonstrated experience in long-form, educational storytelling, comfortable turning a complex financial topic into a clear, well-structured article
- Strong reporting and research skills, including sourcing, interviewing or incorporating subject-matter experts, and fact-checking
- Genuine financial subject-matter experience; a journalism background alone is not enough, as we ideally want someone who has covered personal finance, wealth, investing, retirement, insurance, banking, taxes, or related topics
- Proven ability to translate financial concepts for a general audience with clarity and credibility
- Proficiency in AP style standards, with the ability to apply them consistently
- A credible author bio and byline history that helps drive visibility and reader trust
- Rigorous, detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy and editorial integrity
Location & Commitment
- Remote (US Based); must be available to work Eastern Time hours
- ASAP through December 23, 2026
- 40 hours/week
- Expected weekly compensation: 2,600 to 3,000 USD
