About Us

Piermont Bank is a boutique specialty commercial bank focused on serving modern businesses with a digital first approach. As the first cloud native bank launched in the United States, Piermont was built on modern infrastructure that allows us to operate with greater flexibility, efficiency, and scalability than traditional banks.

We combine disciplined commercial banking with innovative technology to deliver value added solutions for small and medium sized businesses and our fintech partners. Our team is dedicated to thoughtful risk management, strong client relationships, and building a bank designed for the future of financial services.

The Role

The Fund Finance Relationship Manager will be a cornerstone of Piermont Bank's Innovation Banking group, which focuses on serving the fintech, venture capital, and private equity ecosystem. Fund Finance at Piermont extends well beyond capital call/subscription lines — this role covers the full suite of products available to VC and PE firms, including management company working capital facilities, GP loans, Fund NAV facilities, and end-of-life and warehouse facilities. The successful candidate will manage and grow existing relationships while originating new business across this full product set, serving both emerging managers and established VC/PE firms.

This is a true hybrid relationship manager / originator role: the person in this seat will act as the quarterback across originations, underwriting, documentation, and closing, while also serving as a trusted advisor and educator to internal partners — client care, loan operations, and finance — as Piermont builds out its Fund Finance practice

Responsibilities

  • Drive origination and development of the Fund Finance business across the full spectrum of VC/PE lending products, including capital call/subscription lines, management company working capital, GP loans, Fund NAV, and end-of-life/warehouse facilities.
  • Build and manage relationships across asset classes and client tenure, with both emerging managers and established VC/PE firms.
  • Cultivate business within the broader ecosystem supporting VC/PE firms, including fund administrators, law firms, and conference/industry networks; an existing network of prospective clients is strongly preferred.
  • Own the full deal lifecycle — structuring, underwriting, documentation, execution, and ongoing portfolio management — for Fund Finance facilities.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of core banking and Fund Finance products and services.
  • Oversee preparation of consolidated credit and portfolio information.
  • Drive profitability by independently evaluating the credit and financial impact of business decisions, including pricing, and recommending risk mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with and help train internal teams (client care, loan operations, finance) as Piermont's Fund Finance practice matures, contributing to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related credit field.
  • Five-plus years of relevant experience in lending, underwriting, credit, or portfolio management, with a strong fundamental understanding of fund finance across the VC/PE ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated origination track record strongly preferred; an existing network of potential clients is a significant plus.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting, financial analysis, and secured lending principles.
  • Proven transaction and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and articulate views credibly both internally and in the marketplace.
  • Established credit, industry, and risk acumen.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and operate independently in a lean, fast-growing environment.
  • A collaborative, low-ego, "roll up your sleeves" approach — candidates from larger institutions should be genuinely energized by building something from the ground up rather than stepping into established infrastructure.

The hiring range for this position is $180,000 to $225,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. A bonus and/or incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, vision, 401k, and other benefits.
