Owns government capture from opportunity identification through contract award, with primary responsibility for converting an Air Force SBIR Phase II into Phase III and follow-on production contracts. Leads pursuit qualification, bid/no-bid decisions, proposal development, pricing input, teaming, compliance, pipeline management, and engineering requirement translation. Requires deep DoD capture experience, proven SBIR or production-contract wins, and 25–40% travel.
Slip Robotics builds autonomous robots that load trailers and move heavy loads. Our robots run at warehouse and manufacturing sites across North America, and we now hold an Air Force contract for depot aircraft maintenance. Our Air Force SBIR Phase II is under way, and we're growing our government business on that foundation.
As Government Capture Lead, you'll own capture from the first look at an opportunity through the signed award. Your first priority is turning our SBIR Phase II into a Phase III and extending it to other depots and commands. You'll work closely with our Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Operating Officer, and hand in hand with engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Phase III strategy for our Air Force SBIR: sponsor, funding source, contracting path, and timeline.
- Find and qualify new pursuits across SBIR/STTR, OTAs, CSOs, prize challenges, and defense logistics and depot commands, and make bid or no-bid calls.
- Run proposals end to end: compliance, win themes, pricing input, and on-time submission.
- Build teaming relationships with primes and integrators when we shouldn’t go alone.
- Keep the pipeline, SAM.gov registration, and compliance baseline current (CMMC, Section 889, ITAR, Buy American).
- Turn customer requirements into clear asks for engineering.
Requirements
- 7+ years in DoD capture, proposals, or contracting.
- A record of winning SBIR Phase III awards or follow-on production contracts (named awards).
- Experience at a small defense-tech company, or helping one scale.
- Proposals and briefings that senior government readers act on.
- Commitment to procurement integrity and ethics rules. We will never ask for non-public government or competitor information.
- Willingness to travel 25–40%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Military or civilian experience in logistics, depot maintenance, or Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) or DLA operations.
- Familiarity with robotics, autonomy, or material handling.
- Experience with GSA schedules and DCAA-compliant pricing.
