Nidus is building autonomous manufacturing systems powered by AI and robotics. U.S. manufacturing faces a structural challenge: a shrinking skilled workforce, underutilized equipment, and supply chains that can't keep pace with demand. We believe the answer isn't more people — it's smarter systems. We're building the intelligence layer that lets machines run autonomously, so manufacturers can scale production without scaling headcount.
Our team comes from the intersection of defense technology and AI. We've built and shipped products to DoD customers, and we bring deep experience across ML, robotics, product development, and defense
We're a small, in-person team in New York City working on hard problems that matter. If you want to build the future of American manufacturing, we'd love to hear from you.
Role OverviewWe are seeking a Hardware Engineer to join our team and help build the future of manufacturing automation. You will be driving the integration of our robots with industrial manufacturing equipment from the mechanical and electrical side. This role is for someone who is scrappy and willing to move quickly and iterate rapidly while keeping long-term design goals in mind.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead integration efforts between robotic arms, grippers, sensors, and manufacturing equipment
Own the entire assembly, including electronics, sensors, and mechanical components
Support deployment of systems to customer facilities and provide technical guidance during installation and commissioning
Stay current with emerging technologies in robotics, additive manufacturing, and automated manufacturing systems
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
8+ years of experience in mechanical design and development, preferably in robotics or manufacturing automation
Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) and stress/strain analysis
Experience with mechanical design for robotic systems, including kinematics, dynamics, and structural analysis
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, 3D printing, and assembly techniques
Experience with polymers and carbon fiber material properties and manufacturing processes
Experience with force-controlled robotic systems, collaborative robots (cobots) and dual-arm robotic systems
Knowledge of sensor integration and mechatronics
