The Head of FP&A and Operations will oversee financial planning and analysis, budgeting, cash forecasting, AI workflows, and operational tasks across multiple business lines, acting as a key owner of the company's financial strategy.
We're a fast-moving company in the education space, and we're hiring an in-house Head of FP&A and Operations. This is a foundational role — you'll be the single owner of the financial plan, the operating budget, and the FP&A function across multiple business lines.
If you're a smart generalist who can build a 10-year model from a blank sheet, talk with CFOs, and use AI tools to do the work of a small team, we want to talk.
What you'll own
- The long-term financial model. Build and maintain a multi-year, multi-entity operating model. Unit economics, revenue build, cost structure, consolidated P&L. Every number ties.
- The annual budget and rolling forecast. Run the budgeting cycle. Refresh actuals monthly. Produce variance commentary an executive can read in 60 seconds.
- Cash forecasting. Rolling 13-week cash forecast across entities.
- Unit economics. Own CAC, LTV, payback, contribution margin, and cohort analysis. Be the person who can explain in 30 seconds why a number moved.
- Investor-grade materials. Financial sections of fundraising decks, data rooms, diligence Q&A, KPI dashboards.
- AI-leveraged FP&A operations. Build repeatable AI workflows so monthly close and reforecast take hours, not weeks.
- Operations glue. Headcount planning, vendor contracts, comp design, pricing analysis — the finance-literate generalist work that needs an owner.
Requirements
- 5–10 years in FP&A, investment banking, private equity, strategic finance at a high-growth operator, or a top-tier consulting firm with finance-heavy work.
- You can build a multi-year, multi-entity operating model from scratch and defend every assumption.
- Excel/Sheets master. Pivot tables, dynamic arrays, scenario toggles, sensitivity tables are reflexes.
- Aggressive, high-taste user of AI tools (Claude, GPT, Gemini, Perplexity, agentic workflows). You've built things with them, not just chatted.
- You can talk finance-to-finance with a top-tier CFO and not get rolled.
- You write tight. One-page memos that get read once and acted on.
- You QA your own work obsessively. You catch your errors before sending. When you don't, you own it cleanly.
Strongly preferred
- Experience supporting a capital raise (data room, diligence Q&A, model audit).
- Experience with cohort-based or multi-unit business economics.
You are not a fit if
- You think AI output doesn't need to be checked.
- You need a finance team underneath you to be productive.
- You're uncomfortable being the only finance person in the room with the CEO and external advisors.
Why this role is a great opportunity
- Foundational hire. You define the function, the tools, the cadence, and the standard.
- Real scope. Multi-entity, multi-business-line, with capital-raise work on the horizon.
- Build the AI playbook. We expect FP&A to be radically AI-leveraged. You get to build the playbook from day one.
