Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative leader who lives and breathes internet culture to manage all aspects of our social media function. We are seeking a passionate Head of Social who is equal parts social strategist and content creator, with a sharp, creative eye and a deep understanding of social platforms to push boundaries and shape culture with Book of the Month. This role sits at the intersection of creative, strategy, and marketing, leading the development and execution of thoughtful social content that drives business growth while elevating our brand presence. We are open to hiring at a Manager or Director level for this role.

What You’ll Do…

  • Develop and iterate upon social strategy, defining a clear set of business objectives and testing content to achieve those objectives for each social media channel. Working hard to avoid the kind of randomness that plagues many social programs.
  • Act as a curator of culture, staying attuned to new ideas, broader trends, and industry shifts, translating your insights into on-brand BOTM content.
  • Steer the creative process for our social content through partnership with the Creative team and a roster of freelancers. This includes:
    • Concepting, creating, and publishing high-impact, platform-native content for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and emerging channels.
    • Managing our content calendar and overseeing content creation; holding the camera and/or being on camera as needed.
    • Managing the briefing process to produce  content that meaningfully connects with our audience, measured by strong attention metrics.
  • Measure and report performance constantly with clear insights, translating these metrics into impactful business outcomes.
  • Partner with the growth team on collaborations that drive reach and engagement.
  • Represent BOTM externally at industry events, going to relevant parties, and meeting and developing relationships with relevant culturally important stakeholders.

About You…

  • 5+ years of hands-on professional creative experience working as a leader in social media and/or content creation at a media company, agency or a consumer-driven/lifestyle brand.
  • You are creative by trade. You have exceptional taste and have a constant stream of original ideas that you’re comfortable pitching, refining and executing.
  • You analyze content, generate compelling insights and translate them into creative concepts and ideas.
  • You are a strong communicator, are willing to push creative boundaries, and can adapt your creative approach to capture and uphold a distinct brand voice.
  • You have a confident POV, and a strong editorial eye, with a clear instinct for what content or aesthetics will resonate with the Book of the Month audience.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to develop and execute innovative, results-driven social media strategies, understanding the nuances of each platform.
  • You’re deeply engaged with internet culture and commercial fiction.

Due to the fact that we are open to hiring at the manager or director level for this role, our salary range is: $100,000 - $250,000.
