Our client is a venture-backed fintech company building software infrastructure for mortgage origination. Its platform automates credit, compliance, capital and tooling so fintechs, lenders and banks can build and scale mortgage businesses. The company has raised $45M from investors including Conversion Capital, Citi, Peter Thiel and QED, and has roughly 50 employees.
Build the in-house talent function and help grow the company from roughly 50 to 250 people. This is a hands-on player-coach role: personally source and close candidates while setting strategy, working with executives and building a recruiting team. This full-time position is hybrid, with three days a week in the San Francisco Bay Area, preferably Palo Alto, or New York City.
• Build an in-house sourcing and full-cycle recruiting function and hire and lead three to six recruiters alongside the existing team.
• Personally source and close engineers, alongside go-to-market, product, design and operations hires.
• Partner with executives on headcount plans, budgets, compensation and leveling.
• Use recruiting analytics to report pipeline health, conversion, time to fill and hiring progress.
• Establish structured interviews, calibrated scorecards and a fast, decisive process.
• Own the recruiting-to-onboarding handoff, hire an HR generalist and lay foundations for future HR leadership.
Requirements
• At least eight years as a talent leader, including building an in-house function as an early talent hire at a high-growth, venture-backed startup.
• A proven record of at least doubling company headcount, with substantial technical hiring.
• Hands-on technical sourcing and closing expertise, plus experience recruiting non-technical roles.
• Headcount planning, compensation and recruiting analytics experience.
• Ability to partner closely with founders and executives and quantify the growth you have driven.
• A hands-on approach: strategy-only leadership is insufficient. Agency experience is considered when it includes close founder collaboration and measurable company growth.
• Ability to attend the Bay Area or NYC office three days a week.
