About The Food Literacy Project:
The Food Literacy Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and communities to make informed, sustainable food choices. Through education, hands-on learning, and advocacy, we promote food literacy to help people better understand how food impacts their health, the environment, and the world around them. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Hospitality Support Specialist to join our team and ensure that our guests and program participants receive the highest level of service.
Position Overview:
The Hospitality Support Specialist will be responsible for providing outstanding administrative and operational support to The Food Literacy Project’s events, programs, and services. This role will involve direct interaction with participants, assisting with inquiries, registrations, event coordination, and supporting a seamless experience for all involved. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for supporting food literacy and community engagement.
This position is essential to the success of our educational and community-focused programs, and the individual in this role will ensure that every participant and guest has a positive and enriching experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide top-tier customer service by answering inquiries via phone, email, and live chat, ensuring a positive and professional experience.
Assist with event and program coordination, including guest registration, logistics, and scheduling.
Ensure smooth communication between internal teams (education, outreach, and event staff) to support successful program execution.
Maintain accurate records of program participants, events, and related data.
Manage participant feedback, addressing concerns or questions and ensuring follow-up to enhance satisfaction.
Assist with the creation and management of food literacy-related programs, events, and activities.
Support the event planning process, including organizing venue details, materials, and guest needs.
Help ensure the successful operation of on-site events and activities, ensuring all logistics are handled effectively.
Provide support in payment processing, refund handling, and other administrative tasks as required.
Stay up to date on all program offerings and services, delivering accurate and helpful information to guests.
Collaborate with the team to continuously improve guest and participant experiences.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Event Management, or a related field is preferred).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospitality, customer service, or event coordination.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on customer service excellence.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with event management software, registration systems, and customer relationship management (CRM) tools.
Knowledge of the food literacy field and a passion for food sustainability is highly desirable.
Flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations professionally.
