The HR Generalist supports the HR life cycle by managing employee engagement, onboarding, payroll, compliance, and performance management, while providing recommendations for HR processes.

The HR Generalist role will provide human resources life cycle support to employees, managers, executives and external partners. Responsible for core HR structures and programs such as employee engagement, performance management, compensation, compliance, training and development, career planning, and benefits administration. Candidates with strong exposure in working with payroll are ideal. This role promises great business exposure, learning and growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate to internal stakeholders in Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations
- Administer and educate employees of benefits and maintain a sustainable relationship with insurance providers
- Own and continuously improve our first class onboarding program for all new hires
- Responsible for administering and presenting HR updates in the monthly meeting
- Own offboarding process and ensure effective exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations
- Provide resolutions to employee relation issues (e.g. employee complaints and harassment allegations)
- Administer and record employee recognition and incentive programs
- Perform interviews to ensure the compatibility of applicants to job positions and culture fit
- Manage performance management program including talent mapping, and all aspects of performance reviews inclusive of administration of company quarterly discretionary bonus plan
- Own and process company-wide payroll
- Create and complete all reporting as required on a quarterly, annual, and as needed basis
- Recommend, develop and maintain human resources systems, payroll systems, and benefits systems
- Develop and provide recommendations for policies and processes and maintain compliance with all relevant provincial and state legislation
- Plan and organize staff events and recreational activities to help maintain and bolster culture
- Own and maintain all HR processes required to maintain SOC compliance
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources Management required.
- 4-6 years of work experience in HR required.
- Familiar working experience related to payroll, recruitment, benefits and HR administration
- Experience in start-up and/or technology industry preferred
- Demonstrated ability to provide beneficial recommendations to solve HR related issues related to regulations, laws and policies
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times and doing so with a sense of urgency
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- Computer literacy is a must with effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key external stakeholders
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail in all areas of work
- Experience working with with LEVER, BambooHR, Payworks, Justworks is ideal
