Vimeo is the platform of choice for an enormous community of creators, creative professionals, and businesses, and our Trust & Safety team is responsible for keeping the Vimeo ecosystem inspiring, entertaining, and safe. As Director of Trust & Safety, you will be at the forefront of these efforts, leading a team in moderating user-generated content (primarily in the form of videos), reacting and adapting to malicious activity on the site, and generally minimizing the presence of content that could be detrimental to our users and brand.
What you’ll do:
- Managing a 10+ person Trust & Safety department (in the U.S. and overseas) that is responsible for:
- Implementing Vimeo’s compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and similar laws
- Enforcing Vimeo’s Terms of Service (https://vimeo.com/terms) and content Guidelines
- Managing Vimeo’s user requests related to data privacy compliance
- Investigating and responding to fraud, spam, content abuse, and other problematic activities
- Developing internal and external policies and guidance concerning user-generated content
- Isolating relevant KPIs and implementing data-driven improvements for Trust & Safety workflows, including moderation protocols and user complaint responses
- Representing Vimeo in industry-wide discussions about business practices designed to mitigate harmful content
- Managing the company’s response to high-profile incidents
- Acting as the final escalation point for all Policy, Community Guidelines, and Terms of Service-related decisions and complaints, providing swift yet thoughtful and nuanced guidance in a time-sensitive environment
- Working with our developers to implement content abuse technologies that increase team productivity and allow us to scale
Skills and knowledge you should possess:
- 7+ years of experience in a Trust & Safety, Support, or similar role
- 3+ years of experience managing a team
- Deep knowledge of and experience with copyright, policy, and technical complexity of user-generated content
- Strong problem-solving skills, proven critical thinking ability, and good judgment
- Excellent written communication skills
- Preferred: Law Degree or Legal Training
