Human Resources Generalist
FLSA Status: Full Time Exempt
Reports To: Human Resources Director
Pay Range: $65,000- $80,000
Job purpose
The Human Resources Generalist supports day-to-day human resource operations including employee relations, payroll administration, leave management, benefits administration, onboarding, HRIS management, compliance, and employee development. This position serves as a key resource for employees and managers, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations while promoting a positive employee experience.
Essential Functions
- Employee Relations & Compliance
- Serve as a resource to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.
- Assist with investigations, employee concerns, disciplinary actions, and performance management issues.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain confidential personnel records and employment documentation.
- Assist with policy development and employee handbook updates.
- Payroll Administration
- Process and audit payroll for multiple entities utilizing Paycom.
- Review timecards, PTO requests, overtime, and payroll adjustments.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries.
- Generate payroll reports and support accounting reconciliation activities.
- Leave Administration
- Administer FMLA, Paid Family Leave (PFL), ADA accommodations, disability leaves, and related programs.
- Educate employees regarding leave rights, responsibilities, and benefits continuation.
- Track employee leave status and coordinate return-to-work activities.
- Benefits Administration
- Administer health and welfare benefit programs including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Coordinate COBRA processing with third-party administrators.
- Perform monthly benefit invoice reconciliations.
- Support annual open enrollment activities.
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Responsible for front line recruiting efforts

- Coordinate onboarding activities and new hire orientation.
- Review employment documentation and maintain compliance records.
- Partner with hiring managers regarding recruitment activities.
- HR Systems & Reporting
- Maintain employee records within HRIS systems.
- Produce routine HR reports and workforce metrics.
- Support HR technology improvements and process optimization.
- Training & Development
- Coordinate employee and manager training initiatives.
- Assist with organizational development and employee engagement initiatives.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Education
- Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience
- 3-5 years of Human Resources experience.
- Payroll administration experience preferred.
- Experience with Paycom or similar HRIS/payroll systems preferred.
- Experience with AI tools to help with efficiency preferred.
- Certifications
- SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, PFL, workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, and employment law.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and employee-relations skills.
- High degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to use standard office equipment, computers, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, etc.
- Disciplined thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded, and informed by evidence

- Must be adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve programs in a timely manner.

- Must pass post-offer, pre-employment drug test and agree to companies drug free workplace policies.

Travel
- This position requires regular travel to other company locations based on business needs. Travel is expected at least monthly and may occur more frequently depending on operational needs, meetings, training, projects, or other business priorities. Some overnight travel may be required.
