The IaaS Migration Engineer is responsible for executing infrastructure migrations across private, public, and hybrid cloud environments. This role focuses on moving client workloads from on-premises or legacy environments into RapidScale platforms and hyperscaler environments, ensuring migrations are completed efficiently, securely, and with minimal disruption.
This position is open across Level II, Senior, and Lead levels, with leveling determined based on experience, technical depth, and ability to execute complex migration initiatives.
You will work closely with Solution Architects, Delivery teams, and Managed Services to deliver successful migration outcomes and enable long-term managed services support.

Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $122,600.00 - $204,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute infrastructure migrations, including rehost and replatform initiatives, from on-premises or legacy environments into:
- RapidScale private cloud (VMware-based)
- Public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Perform discovery, assessment, and migration planning for client environments
- Build and configure target environments, including compute, storage, networking, and security components
- Execute migration activities using tools and methodologies such as:
- VMware HCX, vMotion
- Azure Migrate, AWS MGN
- Backup and replication tools
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during migration cutovers and stabilization phases
- Validate migrated environments to ensure performance, security, and operational readiness
- Document environments, migration processes, and configurations for handoff to Managed Services
- Collaborate cross-functionally with network, security, platform, and delivery teams to ensure seamless execution
- Support continuous improvement of migration methodologies, tooling, and automation
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers (Senior/Lead levels)
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements (Level-Based)
Level II Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2+ years of experience in a related field
- OR a master's degree with up to 2 years of experience
- OR 6+ years of relevant IT experience in lieu of a degree
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure migrations and environment builds
Senior Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4+ years of experience
- OR a master's degree with 2+ years of experience
- OR 8+ years of relevant IT experience
- Experience executing complex or large-scale migration projects across hybrid or multi-cloud environments
Lead Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6+ years of experience
- OR a master's degree with 4+ years of experience
- OR 10+ years of relevant IT experience
- Proven ability to lead migration initiatives, drive architecture alignment, and influence cross-functional delivery teams
Core Experience (All Levels)
- Strong experience in one or more of the following:
- VMware (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vMotion, HCX)
- Public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Understanding of core infrastructure components:
- Networking (VPNs, VLANs, routing, firewalls)
- Compute and storage
- Identity and access management
- Experience with migration tools and methodologies (Azure Migrate, HCX, Zerto, Veeam, Carbonite, or similar)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills during live migration scenarios
- Ability to operate in a customer-facing delivery environment
- Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with large-scale or complex enterprise migration projects
- Experience working in hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, or similar)
- Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Relevant certifications (VMware, Azure, AWS)
