Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Secondary Investment Grade Credit Trader to join our Corporate Credit Trading team. The successful candidate will focus on Industrial or Financial sectors, managing market risk, providing liquidity to institutional clients, and contributing to the growth of our franchise.

This role is ideal for a motivated trader with 2–6 years of experience on an investment grade credit trading desk at a leading financial institution. The individual will work closely with institutional sales, research, syndicate, and banking teams to deliver market insight, execute client flow, and identify relative value opportunities across the investment grade universe.

The position offers significant responsibility within a collaborative trading environment where disciplined risk management, strong analytical skills, and exceptional client service are highly valued.

Major Responsibilities

  • Make competitive two-way markets in investment grade corporate bonds across Industrial or Financial sector

  • Manage inventory, market risk, and capital efficiently while adhering to the firm's risk management framework.

  • Develop and execute relative value trading strategies across issuers, sectors, maturities, and the credit curve.

  • Partner with institutional sales to provide timely market color, trade ideas, and execution support for clients.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds, hedge funds, and other institutional investors.

  • Monitor primary issuance, secondary market activity, macroeconomic developments, and company-specific events that may impact valuations.

  • Analyze issuer fundamentals, sector trends, technicals, and market positioning to identify trading opportunities.

  • Collaborate with research, syndicate, banking, and quantitative teams to support new issue pricing, secondary market performance, and client engagement.

  • Utilize electronic trading platforms and data analytics to optimize execution and enhance market-making capabilities.

  • Ensure all trading activities comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and best execution standards.

  • Contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives, and the development of trading tools that enhance desk efficiency.

  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance trading culture.

Candidate Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • 2+ years of experience trading investment grade corporate credit at a major investment bank or broker-dealer.

  • Strong knowledge of corporate bond markets, market structure, and fixed income products.

  • Demonstrated experience managing trading risk and making markets in secondary corporate bonds.

  • Solid understanding of credit analysis, spread products, duration, curve positioning, and relative value trading.

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across trading, sales, research, and banking teams.

  • FINRA SIE, Series 7 and 63 licenses required (or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, Tradeweb, MarketAxess, TruMid and other electronic fixed income trading platforms.

  • Experience using Bloomberg Excel APIs, BQL, Python, SQL, or other analytical tools to improve trading workflows.

  • Strong understanding of TRACE data, electronic market structure, and portfolio trading.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $100,000 to $110,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
