The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, performance, and scalability of the organization's technology infrastructure. This role designs, implements, and supports on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments while proactively minimizing downtime, mitigating risks, and maintaining operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with server, storage, virtualization, and cloud technologies and will serve as a technical lead for infrastructure initiatives. This individual must be capable of translating complex technical issues into clear business recommendations for leadership while maintaining comprehensive documentation of infrastructure architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize physical and virtual server environments, including VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V platforms.
  • Administer and support cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Manage enterprise storage systems, replication technologies, backup solutions, and disaster recovery platforms.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, performance, and availability to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a Tier 2/3 escalation resource for complex server, storage, cloud, networking, and identity management issues.
  • Lead infrastructure projects including system migrations, cloud adoption initiatives, hardware refreshes, and technology upgrades.
  • Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for on-premises systems, Azure workloads, virtual machines, and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices, including vulnerability remediation, patch management, access controls, and Active Directory administration.
  • Manage and support enterprise monitoring and reporting tools such as Varonis, ManageEngine, Dell iDRAC/OpenManage, and related platforms.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, topology maps, hardware inventories, configuration documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to resolve infrastructure issues and improve system performance.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance activities and emergency response efforts as required.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Strong experience administering Windows Server operating systems.
  • Experience with VMware virtualization technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience managing enterprise storage solutions, replication technologies, and backup systems.
  • Experience supporting Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management services.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring, reporting, and management platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, VMware VCP, or equivalent certifications.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity initiatives, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working within financial services, legal, healthcare, or other highly regulated environments.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, systems design, and enterprise technology operations.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across server, storage, cloud, and virtualization platforms.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external vendors.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of security, reliability, and customer service.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift and install IT equipment as needed.
  • Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required for maintenance and project implementations.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.

 

 

The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
