Summary

As the Intern – Electrical Engineer (Test Systems), you will support the development and implementation of electrical test solutions for NAI products, including cable and backplane assemblies. This role provides hands-on experience integrating electrical testing, software, and mechanical fixturing to support reliable and efficient product testing.

Requirements

Essential Role and Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing test systems for cables, backplanes, and related electronic assemblies.
  • Support the configuration and programming of DIT-MCO test equipment and associated test software.
  • Assist in designing, building, and integrating mechanical fixtures, interfaces, and test hardware.
  • Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting to verify test system functionality and identify issues with cabling, connections, and related hardware.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate test solutions and improve testing efficiency and reliability.
  • Document test configurations, fixture designs, procedures, software changes, and test results.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering program.
  • Demonstrates a fundamental understanding of electrical circuits, wiring, connectors, and electronic test principles.
  • Possesses basic programming or scripting knowledge applicable to test system development.
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with basic mechanical fixtures, drawings, and assemblies.
  • Candidates must be a U.S. Person, defined as either a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), and must be able to provide appropriate documentation upon hire to verify this status. Please note that some positions involve sensitive customer contracts and require U.S. citizenship as a condition of employment. 

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with automated cable, harness, continuity, or backplane testing equipment, including DIT-MCO or similar test systems.
  • Experience with general-purpose electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, or power supplies.
  • Exposure to mechanical CAD, fixture design, fabrication, or hands-on assembly.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Monday to Friday, Day Shift
  • Discretionary 9/80 Schedule
  • Business casual dress code

This is a full-time internship for Fall 2026, requiring a 40-hour workweek. The internship is expected to run from September through December. Compensation is based on the position and the student’s academic-year standing.
