The Job Developer will be responsible for the development of employment experiences for participants. The Job developer will establish and maintain working relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to secure employment and vocational training opportunities for youth. He/she is committed to positive youth development principles and creates a collaborative environment of inquiry, reflection, and discovery in which youth feel comfortable sharing and challenging themselves. The program goals include: 

  • Developing young people's work readiness and social and job skills.
  • Providing safe work environments.
  • Adhering to agency policies and procedures.
  • Providing integral support services across program units.
  • Managing programmatic recordkeeping.

Rate of Pay:$22.00 per hour - $25.00 per hour

Work Schedule: Flexible between the hours of 8 am-11 pm

Work Location: Varies depending on company needs. The main Location is 23-16 30th Avenue, Astoria, NY 11102

Major Functions/Accountabilities:

  • The Job Developer will assist the Program Director in all aspects of a successful program. In addition, other duties may be assigned when needed. 
  • Initiates and maintains ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement;
  • Makes cold calls to potential employers; explains the benefits and employment support services provided by programs to employers, including addressing employers’ individual needs.
  • Developing specific job opportunities that match the participants’ skills, work experience, related training, and interests.
  • Conduct research on the Internet, newspapers, agencies, and other resources for job leads; keeps updated regarding job fairs and Internet resources.
  • Collects data from employers related to job orders including job requirements and skills; matches job skills with applicant qualifications; refers qualified applicants to employers.
  • •    Conducts necessary follow-up when applicants are placed in positions.
  • •    Participates in outreach and recruitment activities by providing career coaching and counseling.
  • Conduct worksite orientations by detailing the ins and outs of the program(s), and the expectations from the worksite supervisors and the participants regarding the program.
  • Monitor and maintain program files such as worksite and participant folders.
  • Assist with participant placement. In addition to assisting with participant placement, it will be necessary to inform the Program Director of any changes that are made for proper record keeping.
  • Review monitoring reports on the Youth Employment online system on a weekly basis.
  • Report all issues regarding Youth Employment participants and worksites to the Program Director.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development training as required.
  • Complete Basecamp check-ins twice per day
  • Monitor and review projects/tasks on Basecamp. Assign tasks to teams on basecamp as needed.
  • Assist with any or other program activity deemed necessary by the Program Director.

Requirements:

  • Ability and patience to work with youth, recognizing their exuberance and juvenile behavior, particularly in group settings.
  • Travel within NYC: use public transportation or traverse city streets, occasionally ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Ability to work with the public and/or youth.
  • Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer at least 80% of the time.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirement: AA/AS. BS/BA preferred.
  • Minimum two years of related experience which may include, but need not be limited to, developing worksites, providing career coaching and counseling, and working in the field of youth workforce development.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word/Excel 2019; OneDrive, Google Drive demonstrated work proficiency with the Internet.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, math, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Flexibility in schedule and some evenings/weekends will be necessary.
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish a plus.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols if Company determines your job position requires accessing a HANAC worksite.
