Magna Legal Services is a trusted nationwide partner to law firms, corporations, insurance carriers, and government agencies, delivering comprehensive legal support at every stage of a case. From court reporting and record retrieval to jury consulting, investigations, litigation graphics, and language services, we help our clients navigate complex legal challenges with confidence. Our reputation is built on the expertise, dedication, and professionalism of our team, and we’re proud to foster a culture where talented people can do meaningful work and grow their careers.

Jury Consultants help legal teams understand how potential jurors may view a case and develop practical strategies for presenting it. They apply social science research, behavioral insight, and knowledge of the civil litigation process to support clients before and during trial.

The work can include designing and conducting mock trials, focus groups, surveys, and other jury research; preparing witnesses; advising on voir dire and jury selection; and monitoring jurors during trial. Jury Consultants take ownership of projects from initial client discussions through research, analysis, recommendations, and final delivery. They work closely with clients, colleagues across the research team, and the sales team to shape and deliver effective consulting engagements.

Primary Responsibilities

    Research and Case Strategy
    • Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative research to assess case themes, evidence, arguments, and potential juror reactions.

    • Moderate mock trials and focus groups, including in-person and online research sessions.

    • Support community attitude surveys, online jury research, and demographic profiling.

    • Analyze research findings and translate them into clear, practical recommendations for clients.

    • Prepare reports, presentations, and other client deliverables that explain the findings and their strategic implications.

    • Pretrial Consulting
      • Help clients refine case themes, arguments, and presentation strategy based on research findings.

      • Prepare witnesses to communicate clearly, credibly, and effectively.

      • Advise on voir dire strategy and juror selection.

      • Conduct or support juror and community research, including surveys and demographic analysis.

      • Trial Consulting
        • Support jury selection and provide strategic recommendations during trial.

        • Conduct shadow jury research and trial monitoring.

        • Research jurors using publicly available social media and public records, consistent with applicable requirements and client direction.

        • Advise on courtroom presentation, including the effective use of visuals and other communication tools.

        • Client and Project Leadership
          • Serve as a thoughtful, responsive partner to clients and communicate findings with confidence and clarity.

          • Manage projects from intake through delivery, coordinating research, timelines, analysis, and client communications.

          • Collaborate with colleagues across the research team and share insights that strengthen project work.

          • Partner with the sales team on client discussions and proposals for jury consulting projects.

          • Contribute to a high standard of quality in research design, analysis, writing, and presentations.

Desired Background

    • Graduate degree in psychology or a related field such as neuroscience, communication, or another social science; or a J.D. is preferred.

    • Knowledge of social science research methods and the ability to assess the strengths and limitations of research findings.

    • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, with the ability to connect evidence to human behavior, motivation, and decision-making.

    • Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to make strategic recommendations and explain complex research findings in a clear, practical way.

    • A solid understanding of the civil litigation process, procedures, and terminology. A law degree is not required.

    • Client development experience or an interest in supporting business development is helpful.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with analytical software such as SPSS is helpful.

    • Familiarity with presentation technology and courtroom presentation tools is helpful.
