What is Bilt?
Bilt is the membership for where you live.

What started as a way to reward people on their largest expense has turned into an ecosystem connecting our members, property managers and local merchants.
Travel, dining, fitness, everyday spend. We are building systems across payments, credit, loyalty, and commerce all at once.

We run lean and move quickly. Every person here has a real impact on what gets built and how fast it happens.

This role comes with real ownership and high expectations. If you prefer clearly defined lanes and structure, this will feel uncomfortable. If you want to build quickly, have a real say in what gets built, and work on products used by millions, you will likely do your best work here.
What’s the role?
We're building a new Solutions Engineering/Architecture function to sit ahead of every complex enterprise partnership. Where our Forward Deployed Engineers build integrations after a deal is scoped, you're the technical architect shaping what we're actually proposing to sell in the first place — designing the product and integration approach for enterprise partners whose needs go well beyond "connect API A to API B." You'll work closely with Sales, Partnerships, and Product to translate a prospective partner's business and technical environment into a concrete, sellable solution design, then hand that design to the Forward Deployed Engineering team to build. This is a design and influence role, not an implementation role — you generally won't be writing the integration code, and travel is occasional (key discovery sessions, executive pitches) rather than the frequent client-to-client travel expected of the FDE role — but your judgment directly shapes what we build and what we can promise enterprise customers.

In this role, you will:
  • Partner directly with Sales, Partnerships, and Product on enterprise deals where the "solution" isn't an off-the-shelf integration — it's a product or feature that needs to be designed
  • Translate a prospective partner's technical environment, constraints, and business goals into a concrete solution architecture and API/integration design
  • Lead technical discovery calls and solutioning sessions with prospective enterprise partners' technical and business stakeholders
  • Produce the technical assets that make a deal sellable: architecture diagrams, API contracts, technical proposals, scoping documents
  • Hand off validated solution designs to the Forward Deployed Engineering team, staying engaged as design authority through build when questions or tradeoffs arise
  • Identify when a partner's ask requires an actual new product or feature — not just an integration — and work with Product to scope and prioritize that work
  • Build reusable solution patterns, proposal templates, and a knowledge base as this function scales
  • Represent technical feasibility and design perspective in internal deal-review and prioritization conversations

In terms of qualifications, we’re seeking:
  • 7+ years in Solutions Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Sales Engineering, or hands-on product engineering at a high-growth company, or in a role partnering directly with large enterprise/big-tech customers
  • Demonstrated ability to design a technical solution for a need that didn't fit an existing product — not just configuring or integrating one that already exists
  • Strong technical background — credible on APIs, auth, data flows, system architecture — combined with genuine customer-facing polish
  • Experience translating ambiguous customer/business requirements into a concrete proposal both engineering and the customer can act on
  • Comfortable being the technical voice in high-stakes enterprise sales conversations, without being the person who implements the result
  • Strong written and verbal communication — producing docs and diagrams that both engineers and enterprise executives need to understand
  • Open to occasional travel for key discovery sessions or executive pitches — meaningfully less than the FDE role's frequent client-to-client travel.
  • Bonus: Experience building/scaling a Solutions Engineering/Architecture function from scratch; experience partnering with or working inside a large enterprise/big-tech organization; payments, loyalty, retail/POS, or fintech experience; people-management or program-building experience.

Benefits:
  • Compensation - We offer a competitive salary with a meaningful stake in the company via equity and our performance bonus program
  • Health insurance for you (& your loved ones) from day one - Enjoy a One Medical Membership, wellness stipends, family programs and more, on us. We’ve got you and your family covered from day one.
  • 401k plan with a match - Retirement may feel more like a pipe dream than a reality but we’re here to help you get there.
  • Commuter FSAs - We believe the best ideas come from being together in one place. We just don’t think getting there should be so expensive.
  • UNLIMITED PTO - Because we believe that working hard shouldn’t mean always working. Take time for yourself as often as you need it.
  • Exclusive Employee only Bilt Points - We give our employees unique opportunities to earn points throughout their time at Bilt.
  • Team Events - We believe in human connection so we hold events to help our employees break from the monotony of the typical work week.

At Bilt Rewards, we believe in transparency and we do our best to make sure the company and our candidates are on the same page as it relates to compensation. In addition to posting salary ranges for our open roles, candidates should expect to be asked about compensation expectations and requirements early on in their interview process. Our goal is to highlight when expectations and Bilt’s salary range may be out of sync, and work with the candidate to determine whether it makes sense to continue conversations.
We are considering candidates with differing levels of expertise for this position. Leveling will be based upon your experience and performance in the interview process.

Where a new hire falls within a range will be based on their skills and experience, and how these competencies compare across other employees in the same role. Bilt's bands are designed to allow for individual compensation growth within the role. As such, new hires typically start at the lower end of the range. Bilt Rewards performance and outcomes - should you join the company, you will have the opportunity to grow your salary over time.

The salary range for a Lead Solutions Engineer is $200,000 - $280,000 (based on YOE/level), and you will be eligible for equity and an annual performance-based bonus.
