The Legal Counsel will draft and negotiate agreements, manage transactions, and advise on corporate governance and compliance in a tech environment.
Samba is a media intelligence company. We know what the world is watching, reading, and thinking about — in real time, at scale, across every screen. Our data exists with the consent of over a billion people, organized into the most complete picture of consumer attention ever built. The biggest brands in the world use that picture to make smarter decisions. We think it’s the most interesting data asset on the planet, because it’s the most culturally relevant.
We're looking for a sharp, business-oriented attorney with 2–5 years of post-qualification experience to join Samba TV's legal team. This is a high-impact role for a lawyer with strong commercial or transactional foundations who wants to work at the intersection of technology, data, and media. You'll be embedded in the business — advising on deals, structuring agreements, and partnering cross-functionally on some of the most interesting challenges in ad tech and measurement.
What You'll Do
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including data licensing, SaaS and technology licensing, publisher and platform partnerships, agency and brand agreements, and strategic data sharing arrangements
- Be the legal partner to Sales, Business Development, and Partnerships — moving deals forward quickly while protecting Samba's interests
- Assist in wide range of corporate transactional matters
- Advise on data privacy and compliance considerations embedded in commercial relationships, including CCPA, GDPR, and contractual data use restrictions
- Build and maintain scalable contract templates, playbooks, and fallback positions that enable the business to move at speed
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to address legal questions around data use, technology, and new product launches
- Support vendor and procurement contracting across software, services, and infrastructure
- Help identify and manage legal risk across Samba's commercial operations
Who You Are
- J.D. from a well-regarded law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 3-5 years of experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department, focused on commercial contracting, technology transactions, or data licensing
- Strong command of contract structure, negotiation strategy, and risk allocation in complex B2B agreements
- Comfortable advising on data privacy frameworks and their practical implications in commercial deals
- Proven ability to juggle multiple deals and deliver practical, business-first legal advice under tight deadlines
- Excellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills
- Prior exposure to ad tech, data, or digital media sectors is a strong plus
- Collaborative, proactive, and energized by variety — no two days look the same here
Why Samba
- Work directly with business teams on deals that drive revenue and strategic growth
- Join a lean, high-trust legal team where your work moves the needle
- Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits
