About Norm Ai
Norm Ai, the leading Legal & Compliance AI company, has a client base with a combined $30 trillion in assets under management. By turning legal code into AI code, Norm enables enterprises to move faster and more comprehensively in their legal and compliance processes with reliability and trust.
Norm’s platform combines frontier AI, proprietary legal reasoning systems, and embedded legal and regulatory expertise.
We have recently raised more than $140 million, backed by Blackstone, Bain Capital, Vanguard, Citi, New York Life, TIAA, Coatue, Craft Ventures, Henry R. Kravis (KKR co-founder), and Marc Benioff (Salesforce CEO).
Norm Ai pioneered Legal Engineering, the process that empowers lawyers to build and supervise domain-specific AI agents with Norm’s proprietary suite of no-code software tools. We hired dozens of lawyers from premier U.S. law firms and trained them as Legal Engineers, who specialize in Large Language Model powered legal workflows.
Norm Ai technology is deployed inside many of the largest and most consequential institutions in the world. The company is growing quickly and hiring across all teams.
AI Fluency:
Norm Ai expects all team members to be fluent in AI. Successful candidates actively use AI in their day-to-day work to support thinking, creation, and problem-solving. They use it to improve the quality and speed of their work and to continuously refine how work gets done end-to-end.
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate and discuss their AI usage throughout the interview process, including concrete examples of tools, workflows, and outcomes. We look for practical, hands-on experience, not theoretical familiarity.
Legal Engineers at Norm Ai build the foundation of our legal and regulatory AI platform. You will design, prototype, and deploy AI agents that perform substantive legal analysis across complex regulatory domains and power high-impact client workflows.
Norm Ai operates on the belief that AI fundamentally changes how legal expertise is acquired, scaled, and delivered. Legal Engineers are legal generalists who use AI to rapidly master new bodies of law, translate them into operational systems, and create reusable AI agent capabilities that make each new legal domain faster and more efficient to support.
Legal Engineers collaborate actively with our product, software engineering, go-to-market, client engagement teams, and lawyers at Norm Law, LLP (“Norm Law”). You will also work with Norm’s former regulators and senior law firm partners and clients to identify high-value legal workflows and turn them into scalable AI agents that generate real commercial impact.
Legal Engineers support AI agent development across both Norm Ai and Norm Law. Norm Law is an independent, AI-native law firm and is the only law firm authorized to use Norm Ai’s platform in production legal workflows.
Legal Engineers focus on generalizable, high-leverage legal and regulatory AI agents that:
Address substantive legal workflows with meaningful commercial value.
Require deep legal reasoning and domain understanding to model correctly.
Create reusable AI agent capabilities that reduce development time and cost across future agents and legal domains.
Build Foundational Legal and Regulatory AI Agents
Design, build, and maintain AI agents that perform substantive legal and regulatory analysis.
Translate statutes, regulations, enforcement actions, and legal doctrine into structured, testable systems.
Take ownership of broad legal domains and develop deep subject-matter expertise with support from internal and external experts.
Identify reusable agent capabilities and collaborate with engineering partners to productionize them into the platform.
Prototype AI-Native Legal Workflows
Rapidly prototype legal agents using existing platform capabilities and modern AI tooling.
Discover missing or underdeveloped agent capabilities through real workflows and client use cases.
Partner with software and AI engineering teams to define, test, and ship new platform capabilities that unlock future development.
Work Closely With Clients and Industry Leaders
Validate agents using real client workflows, real data, and real economic constraints.
Collaborate with former regulators, senior practitioners, and client stakeholders to ensure legal accuracy and commercial relevance.
Support high-impact client engagements where discovery and validation directly inform platform direction.
Norm Ai expects Legal Engineers to arrive already fluent in AI. Successful candidates actively use AI in their day-to-day professional work and personal workflows in meaningful ways. This includes using AI to accelerate legal research, draft and revise complex material, prototype tools, test ideas, and rethink how work gets done end-to-end.
Legal Engineers are expected to use AI as a default part of their own daily workflows and continuously experiment with new tools, workflows, and techniques.
Many of our Legal Engineers are writing code in the terminal similar to software engineers, with a few weeks of our intensive training.
