The Legal Department is looking for an experienced, motivated and innovative lawyer to join the Firm’s Marketing and Brand Legal Team.  The position will support the marketing and brand activities of various Asset and Wealth Management (AWM) businesses, including the Firm’s proprietary and co-branded deposit businesses offered under the Marcus by Goldman Sachs brand, through Goldman Sachs Bank USA or Goldman Sachs Private Bank, our wealth management business, and Ayco, a provider of company sponsored financial benefits.  This is a unique opportunity to work across three strategically important businesses—Marcus, PWM, and Ayco—at the forefront of Goldman Sachs’ consumer and wealth strategy. The role offers significant exposure to innovative marketing initiatives, evolving regulatory frameworks, and cross-channel client engagement models.

Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a primary marketing legal advisor for our savings, wealth management and workplace financial planning and employer sponsored solutions in the US. 
  • Advise on and support all aspects of marketing, including paid media, digital design and strategies, testimonials / endorsements, partnerships, user research, social media, brand strategy and content creation and publication. 
  • Review of marketing claims and copy, and develop / manage associated legal disclosures.
  • Develop marketing materials, campaigns, programs and related content and support distribution on various distribution channels.  
  • Draft and negotiate various marketing agreements, including sponsorships, brand partnerships, talent / influencer agreements, content partnerships and agency agreements.  
  • Help build and scale processes for marketing review and brand governance. Monitor state and federal marketing, advertising, media and finance developments with a primary focus on regulations, self-regulatory organizations, consent orders, trends and other regulatory and enforcement issues pertaining to marketing and advertising. 
  • Opportunity to work closely with lawyers from other divisions, as well as colleagues across the Firm’s Compliance, Privacy, Marketing, Brand and Technology functions. 
  • Liaise with outside counsel 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience with federal, state and finance laws and regulations including those relating to marketing and advertising of savings and wealth management products and services (e.g., Reg. DD, SEC, FINRA and banking and consumer protection frameworks.) 
  • Experience with drafting of marketing claims, partnerships and contracts 
  • Knowledge of consent orders relating to marketing and finance
  • 7+ years’ post qualification experience required in a leading law firm, financial institution or advertising / media agency.      Experience working on marketing and advertising related issues and programs with financial companies a significant plus.
  • Detail oriented team player with strong analytical and organizational skills 
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • High level of initiative, integrity, and organization
  • Strong commercial judgement and ability to deliver clear, actionable advice
