The Opportunity

Responsible for developing and implementing pricing strategies that align with the Firm's financial goals and client service objectives. Responsible for analyzing complex financial data, creating pricing models, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.  Collaborates effectively with partners, practice group leaders, and other internal stakeholders, demonstrates a deep understanding of legal services pricing, profitability analysis, and market trends.

  • Analyzes complex data and reports, interprets results, summarizes findings, and presents to the Firm's partners, senior management, and clients to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Creates and manages databases summarizing Alternative Fee Agreements (AFAs), performing ongoing maintenance, and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Prepares cost estimates for the Firm's legal services across all practice areas, including litigation, regulatory, and transactional work, for both prospective and existing matters.
  • Designs and implements analytical models to evaluate varying pricing scenarios and recommends optimal fee structures to ensure profitability.
  • Leads efforts to respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) by coordinating and synthesizing input from multiple departments.
  • Designs and implements reporting methodologies to monitor the performance of client engagements against established budgets, identifying areas for improvement and forecasting outcomes.
  • Reviews and analyzes investment and realization reports, communicates key performance metrics on individual matters and portfolios to evaluate the success of engagements subject to AFAs.
  • Monitors market trends and competitors’ pricing strategies to maintain awareness of industry standards and recommends adjustments to the Firm’s pricing models.
  • Analyzes historical matter data regarding utilization, realization, and profitability to inform pricing strategies and identify trends.
  • Drafts fee proposals based on the nature of services and type of fee arrangement, advises partners on strategic considerations and assisting in presenting proposals to clients.
  • Engages attorneys in substantive dialogue regarding the legal work being priced, demonstrating a deep understanding of the Firm’s practice areas and strategic objectives.
  • Serves as a resource regarding analytical methodologies, accounting processes, and the implementation of AFAs in compliance with client billing agreements.
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and assume a leadership role in complex analytical projects, working closely with management and partners to achieve the Firm’s business objectives.
  • Provides relevant knowledge and support to others to increase understanding of pricing and client accounting processes.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.
  • Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Sophisticated knowledge of full MS Suite and relational databases, with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills to synthesize, interpret, and summarize quantitative and qualitative data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Solutions-oriented critical thinker with the ability to leverage historical data, market trends, and precedent to support effective decision-making and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to collaborate with attorneys, management, and clients, and to present findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion, exercise independent and sound judgment, and inspire confidence in others.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-constituent environment.
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail and the ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a team, fostering a collegial and professional environment.
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in a law firm or professional services environment, with at least two years in a pricing, financial analysis, or AFA-related role.

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details.  Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law.

Salary Details

$125,000 - $140,000
