General Job Duties

• Under the direction of the Tooling supervisor, performs repairs, maintenance and engineering changes on production molds.

Specific Job Duties

• Services and maintains assigned tooling and molds.  Cleans and services molds in and out of the press.  Perform maintenance and repairs on tools in and out of the press.  Benches and finishes molds (core and cavity), splits molds, operates mold rotator,  loads and unloads trucks and mold carts.
• Makes power, thermocouples and corepull cables.  Rebuilds hot runner systems.  Services and rebuilds hydraulic cylinders and troubleshoots hydraulic problems with molds.
• Performs work on class "A" surfaces.  Removes nicks and performs style and engineering changes on all cavities and cores.  Skillfully performs repairs on cores and cavities.
• Operates various machines such as:  lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, etc.
• Must be able to fully program CNC Mill.
• Must be able to properly operate Tool Tugger to transport tools.
• Welds (mig, tig and stick) as required.
• Reads drawings and prints.
• Maintains an acceptable attendance record and works overtime as required.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area.
• Participates in department meetings.
• Completes documentation of activities as required.
• Submits cost reduction and Innovation ideas.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

Skills/Experience Required
 

• 4-6 years continuous machining experience using machines listed in essential functions.  Training and experience in electrical, mechanical and hydraulic fields.  Welding experience on tool steel and other exotic metals on both core and cavity of tools.
• Required: Minimum 4 years of Nascote Tooling Grade II Experience
• Required: Associates Degree
• Must be able to properly operate Overhead Crane to move and set-up tools for tool work.
• Must be able to perform core and cavity work in Spotting Press.
• Must have good problem solving skills.
• Must have excellent math skills and basic understanding of SPC principles.
• Must work well with others.  Must have good communication skills – both verbal and written.

Educational Requirements

• Required: Associate's Degree in Technical Field with an emphasis in Machining and Welding.
