In addition to overseeing the department’s financial expenditures, the Manager, Legal Operations will architect and elevate the technological and operational infrastructure powering the global Business and Legal Affairs team. By optimizing legal processes and information management, the Manager, Legal Operations will partner closely with executive cross-functional leaders across Finance, IT, and legal operations leadership at Advance Publications, Inc. Key Responsibilities
  • Outside Counsel & Vendor Management: Support the department’s financial health by monitoring law firm billing, enforcing Outside Counsel Guidelines, processing invoices, and tracking spend against budget.

  • Legal Tech Stack Administration: Serve as the primary administrator for legal systems. Investigate/demo new platforms and identify features within existing platforms, including the department’s AI tools,  that improve efficiency in connection with contract lifecycle management, billing and knowledge management.
  • Litigation Tracking: Track all pending litigation, including keeping track of outside counsel budget for pending cases and risk assessment, and serving as point of contact for Finance and the legal department of Condé Nast’s parent company, Advance.
  • Workflow Optimization: Drive continuous process innovation and improvement across legal intake, triage, work assignments, and output. Architect modern automated self-service workflows (such as streamlined NDA request and fulfillment platforms) to eliminate friction and elevate team velocity.

  • Business Intelligence & Analytics: Design and curate executive-level dashboards delivering actionable real-time insights on operational velocity, contract turnaround times, intake trends, and compliance metrics.
  • Compliance Support: Provide operational support to the compliance function, helping to facilitate smooth workflows, policy management, and tracking of initiatives.

Key Qualifications

  • Innovation & Execution Mindset: Demonstrated success leading cross-functional transformation programs, automating legacy processes, and driving technology adoption across diverse global teams.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong track record of working effectively alongside finance teams, IT/Security, and in-house attorneys.

  • Technology Mastery: Hands-on expertise administering modern legal tech solutions (e.g., CLM, e-billing, AI-assisted review tools, workflow engines) and leveraging legal analytics platforms.

  • Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Professional certifications (e.g., CCEP, paralegal certificate) are a plus.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $100,000- $110,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
