Description

Develop and implement innovative marketing campaigns for the Bloomsbury Adult list, from launch to publication and beyond. Oversee Adult Library Marketing, Independent bookstore marketing, Bloomsbury’s social media channels, and liaise with sales teams. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, Publicity and Communications, the Marketing Director will work closely with the entire Marketing and Publicity team as well as other departments across the company, including with other Bloomsbury territories on shared global campaigns. Forward-thinking, collaborative, and able to devise marketing strategies using current and creative approaches.

Requirements

  • Concept and direct marketing campaigns for the Bloomsbury Adult list from launch to publication and beyond
  • Manage the creation of marketing and advertising materials from start to finish, including writing copy and collaborating with the design team
  • Prepare presentations for and lead seasonal meetings with internal and distribution sales force as well as author and departmental meetings and bi-weekly marketing meetings
  • Manage seasonal calendar and supply sales and marketing materials to internal sales team and Macmillan sales group 
  • Serve as lead marketer for select titles, developing and executing marketing and advertising campaigns, including priority titles, maintain relationships with authors related to promotional and marketing opportunities and activity
  • Develop partnerships with outside companies to help promote our books
  • Manage relationship with independent booksellers, including email outreach 
  • Plan, attend, and present at in-person annual conferences including Winter Institute and ALA
  • Create social media campaigns and strategize overall brand and platform growth, including working directly with authors in coordination with Senior Social Media Manager
  • Manage and mentor Senior Marketing   Manager and Assistant Marketing Manager
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with global marketing team to share ideas and plans
  • Media planning and buying for all campaigns including conception and copywriting, working with ad promo department
  • Provide feedback and marketing plans for editorial acquisitions
  • Oversee all social media presence for Bloomsbury Adult, and advise authors on social media
  • Liaise with website team on Bloomsbury adult US merchandising and updating 

  

Person specification - Knowledge, qualifications   and experience

  • Possess a keen understanding of book marketing, specifically in the adult literature space
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, and writing skills
  • Excellent presentation skills, with experience presenting to large groups
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing and social media platforms 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office products
  • Eight years+ of experience in book publishing with a preference given to candidates with adult fiction and nonfiction book marketing experience
  • College degree required

 Location

(Hybrid) Candidates must reside in the NY tri-state area and be able to work in the office 2 days per week.
