Amplify is looking for a strategic, growth-focused, and results-driven Director, Science Marketing to drive product marketing strategy for K-8 core science.
The Director will report to the head of STEM marketing and will work closely with colleagues on the marketing team as well as cross-functionally with the Product, Sales, Professional Learning, and Customer Success teams.
The Director must be a confident and adept leader with the ability to deeply understand and contribute to business strategy, as well as a track record of translating strategy into useful marketing plans that result in real business outcomes.
Responsibilities of the Director, Product Marketing, Science:
Marketing strategy and go-to-market leadership

  • Lead strategy and execution for all core science product marketing efforts.
  • Plan and implement exciting product launches consisting of a mix of internal training, events, outbound marketing, collateral and samples, and other sales enablement tools to demonstrate multiple channels effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Content and Growth Marketing team to ensure content marketing and campaigns align with product positioning and will support the launch and life cycle of each science product.
  • Partner with Product and Sales on strategic in-product initiatives to build awareness and cross-sell to Amplify customers.


Product positioning and development

  • Drive strategy around product positioning for existing products as well as new launches, crafting and owning the vision of Amplify as the market's premier K-8 core science program.
  • Develop clear and compelling messaging for our core K-8 program and customized state editions, as well as new components and features.
  • Develop, maintain, and promote to internal partners a suite of collateral and sales tools that communicates Amplify's differentiators and benefits to collaborators at the classroom, school, and district levels.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and business leads to develop compelling narratives and value propositions, along with informing the product roadmap.
  • Craft compelling messaging and pitch resources to secure lighthouse districts.


Voice of the buyer and customer

  • Lead the development of buyer-centric collateral and reviewer tools that create a positive experience for prospects, applying deep expertise in K-8 core science curriculum purchasing patterns, buyers' needs, and the sales cycle.
  • Conduct and support formal and informal market research to distill our buyers' and customers' deepest challenges and needs.
  • Serve as an internal advocate for our buyers' and customers' interests, informing the product strategy, sales strategy, and full-funnel marketing campaigns.


Sales enablement

  • Develop sales training on positioning, competitive analysis, and product launches.
  • Deliver innovative sales enablement programs and pipeline-building activities to align with revenue goals.


Competitive analysis

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of market trends and customer needs in the core science market.
  • Develop and maintain detailed competitor analysis in the core science market.


Adoptions

  • Work in lockstep with Field Marketing leaders to develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies for key state-level adoptions.
  • Stay abreast of adoption needs and state-specific product roadmaps 2-5 years in advance.
  • Drive the planning and research for upcoming adoption needs with Product Marketing leaders, Sales leaders, and business leads.


Sampling

  • Lead and implement the sampling and reviewer strategy for full program reviews, committee presentations, and digital reviews.
  • Partner with Operations and Vendor Management teams to deliver effective print sampling solutions, including stadium boxes and sample bags.
  • Develop a Bill of Materials (BOMs) for all sampling solutions; collaborate closely with the Operations and Vendor Management teams on replenishment and demand planning; ensure all active samples are up to date, in stock, and meet the needs of the Sales team.


People management and development

  • Manage a team responsible for marketing K-8 core science.
  • Oversee individual team members' performance and career development.


Basic Qualifications of the Director, Science Marketing:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in education, educational publishing, or ed-tech
  • Experience working on state-level curriculum adoptions
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve valuable results
  • Strong presenting, writing, and communication skills
  • Experience launching products, go-to-market, strategies, and positioning


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills to convey and showcase Amplify's science solutions
  • Problem-solving skills to work through sophisticated challenges
  • Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Able to think and act both strategically (big picture) and tactically (details)


What we offer:
Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a lucrative 401(k) plan, incentive stock options, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross salary range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
