Since its inception in 2014, the Insurance Solutions Group has successfully extended Voya’s deep insurance expertise—originally developed through managing proprietary insurance assets—to a broad external client base. Today, Voya IM manages $94 billion in insurance assets, including $55 billion for external clients and $39 billion in proprietary portfolios.

This role will lead a high-performing team of insurance asset management professionals focused on expanding Voya IM’s footprint across North American insurance companies. The ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor to clients, offering strategic insights and tailored investment solutions that go beyond product offerings. This individual will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across portfolio management, client service, product, and marketing to drive sustainable asset and revenue growth. The role requires frequent travel across the U.S., Canada, and Bermuda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy aligned with Voya IM’s broader business objectives, with a focus on prudent asset and revenue growth.

  • Serve as a senior ambassador for Voya IM’s full suite of investment capabilities, including Public Equity, Private Equity, Fixed Income, Senior Loans, and Alternatives.

  • Articulate Voya IM’s investment philosophy, process, and performance to clients and prospects with clarity and conviction.

  • Maintain detailed records of client and prospect interactions through timely and insightful call notes.

  • Partner with the consultant relations team to ensure alignment between direct sales and consultant-driven efforts.

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of client presentations, coordinating internal subject matter experts as needed.

  • Represent Voya IM at industry conferences and forums, reinforcing the firm’s leadership in insurance asset management.

  • Contribute to strategic planning, including budgeting and sales forecasting for the insurance distribution channel.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of insurance sales professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish clear performance goals and provide regular coaching and feedback to support team growth and success.

  • Promote cross-functional collaboration with internal teams to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in institutional asset management, with a strong focus on insurance clients.

  • Deep and current relationships with key decision-makers at insurance companies.

  • Proven track record of independently sourcing, closing, and retaining large, complex mandates.

  • Demonstrated ability to represent a multi-asset investment platform.

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively.

  • Strong leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to inspire, manage, and grow diverse teams.

  • Experience building team capabilities and driving performance through effective talent management.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and team leadership skills.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong results orientation.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex investment concepts clearly.

  • Deep understanding of insurance regulatory frameworks, rating agency considerations, and accounting standards.

  • Experience presenting in high-stakes “finals” meetings and navigating long sales cycles.

  • Advanced degree (MBA preferred) or professional designation (CFA strongly preferred).

  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses required.

  • Experience in roles beyond institutional/insurance sales—such as within an insurance company, consultancy, or investment team—is a plus.
