About Us

Icarus Robotics is building the robotic workforce for space industrialization. Our first dexterous robots are teleoperated from Earth to take over routine tasks inside space stations, cutting operational costs and freeing astronauts for work only humans can do.

We’ve raised over $12M from top-tier deep tech and space investors. Our engineers work directly with NASA and leading aerospace companies, and we’ve partnered with commercial LEO destinations that will host our robots on future stations. Our first ISS mission is next.

We believe in an industrialized low-Earth orbit this decade, and we’re making it happen.

The Role

You’ll own the mechanical design of major parts of our robot, including its mechanisms, structures and enclosures, from first sketch through prototype iterations, zero-g testing, and flight hardware. This is a hands-on design role for an engineer who has already shipped hardware and wants to own more of it. You will put a robot in space.

What You’ll Do
  • Own mechanical design of robot subsystems, from concept to flight hardware.

  • Design our test infrastructure: rigs, fixtures, and ground support equipment.

  • Produce clean CAD, drawings, and fab packages, and work with in-house tools and vendors.

  • Run structural, thermal, and vibration analysis.

  • Plan, run, and analyze component and system tests.

  • Work with NASA, commercial partners, and our electrical, software, and controls teams to get hardware to orbit.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, or equivalent experience, in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.

  • 2+ years of professional mechanical design experience, beyond internships.

  • Expert CAD skills (Onshape or similar).

  • Experience with FEA, structural dynamics, vibration, or thermal analysis.

  • Knowledge of aerospace/robotics materials, fasteners, and manufacturing methods.

  • Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, fabrication, machining, and mechanical testing.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Robotics, mechanism, or actuator design.

  • Spaceflight, aviation, or other high-reliability hardware experience.

  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers.

What We Offer
  • Generous equity as an early team member.

  • Competitive salary: $120,000–$180,000, depending on experience and seniority.

  • Comprehensive healthcare and benefits, including medical, dental, and vision.

  • A monthly lifestyle spending account through Joon - use it for gym memberships, fitness classes, wellness, and more.

  • Access to cutting-edge tools and hardware, and the freedom to move fast.

  • A key role in shaping the future of in-space robotics and orbital manufacturing.

  • Opportunities to collaborate with top-tier investors, NASA teams, and leading space companies.

  • Citibike Membership.
