The Opportunity:
CACI's Mastodon Design is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer in Rochester, NY. This organization specializes in designing and building hardware and software to meet our customers’ next requirement. We focus on offering devices that can be fielded immediately to meet the mission needs that lie directly ahead. Size, weight, power, and packaging are of paramount importance in everything we design and build. Our expertise allows us to rapidly provide these solutions in specialized electronic/mechanical design, embedded and application-level software, reverse engineering & protocol analysis, and RF signals exploitation and communications systems. We are currently seeking a mechanical engineer to join our engineering department. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
Responsibilities:
Design the packaging for ruggedized equipment with electrical and mechanical elements.
Perform and interpret thermal simulation analyses aligned with military standard environmental requirements.
Produce build-to drawings and data packages and collaborate with suppliers to resolve specification, performance, and reliability issues and realize the commercial and custom-machined parts necessary to build the end product.
Collaborate with hardware designers to jointly optimize circuit card layout with special attention to thermal performance and mitigation.
Work collaboratively across the engineering organization to understand requirements, provide and incorporate technical feedback, and report status.
Qualifications:
Required:
BS in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of skills, education and experience.
Proficient use of computer-aided design and analysis software, with SolidWorks preferred.
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, including mechanics of materials, heat transfer, vibration, and structural dynamics.
Experience in the design of electronics packaging and cooling.
Familiarity with GD&T and Design for Manufacturing (DFM), with experience applying these principles to improve product quality and manufacturability.
Must be a US Citizen.
Desired:
Experience in environmental testing to MIL-STD or equivalent industrial test levels, including shock, vibration, thermal, and immersion.
Experience with SolidWorks Flow Simulation.
