Nonprofit Fundraiser - $20/hr Guaranteed + Bonuses - Full-Time & Part-Time

$20/hr guaranteed + bonuses | 24-40 hours/week | Paid training | New York City

Use your voice for something that matters. Build real communication skills. Get paid while supporting nonprofit causes you care about.

Public Outreach is growing our New York City fundraising team, and we're looking for outgoing, motivated people to join us over the next few weeks.

You'll represent nonprofit organizations working on humanitarian, environmental, animal welfare, human rights, and social justice causes.

No fundraising experience is required.

If you're comfortable meeting new people, want work that keeps you active, and like the idea of building skills while doing something meaningful, we'll teach you the rest.

Full-Time and Part-Time Available

You don't need to work five days a week to join our team.

  • Part-time starts at 3 full 8-hour shifts per week - 24 hours minimum
  • Full-time opportunities are available up to 40 hours per week
  • Shifts must be worked in full rather than as partial-day schedules
  • Paid training is provided from day one

Whether you're looking for consistent part-time work or want to build toward a full-time career, there's room here.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

This is face-to-face fundraising - not an office job.

You'll work with a team throughout New York City, speaking directly with members of the public about the nonprofit campaign you're representing.

You'll:

  • Start conversations with people you've never met
  • Learn about important nonprofit campaigns and causes
  • Explain why the work matters
  • Listen, answer questions, and build genuine connections
  • Invite people to support the organization by becoming monthly donors
  • Work alongside a supportive fundraising team
  • Receive regular coaching and feedback
  • Work toward clear individual and team fundraising goals

You'll spend much of your shift outdoors, walking, standing, and talking with people face-to-face.

Some people will be excited to stop and talk.

Some won't.

You'll hear "no."

Then you'll reset and start the next conversation.

That's part of fundraising - and we'll coach you through it.

Get Paid for Your Time - Not Just Your Results
  • $20/hour guaranteed starting wage
  • Performance-based bonuses and incentives on top of your hourly pay
  • Paid training from day one
  • Regular coaching and development
  • Opportunities for pay growth and advancement
  • Full-time and part-time opportunities
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits for eligible full-time employees and their families after 3 months of full-time work
  • Paid time off
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Opportunities to grow into training and leadership positions

Your hourly wage is guaranteed - this is not commission-only work.

Performance matters, but your base wage isn't dependent on how many donors you sign up.

Work on Causes That Matter

Depending on the nonprofit campaign you're assigned to, your conversations may involve:

  • Humanitarian aid and disaster relief
  • Support for children and families
  • Human and civil rights
  • Animal welfare
  • Environmental issues
  • Social justice
  • Communities affected by conflict, poverty, or displacement
  • Other nonprofit and advocacy initiatives

Campaigns can change over time, but the goal remains the same: helping nonprofit organizations build sustainable support through meaningful conversations with the public.

You don't need previous activism or nonprofit experience.

You do need to be open to learning about important issues and comfortable discussing them respectfully with people from all walks of life.

Build Skills You Can Take Anywhere

Fundraising is an incredible crash course in communication.

You'll build practical experience in:

  • Public speaking
  • Storytelling
  • Persuasive communication
  • Community outreach
  • Donor engagement
  • Reading a conversation
  • Handling objections
  • Resilience
  • Working toward measurable goals
  • Receiving and applying feedback
  • Leadership

This can be a job, a stepping stone into the nonprofit sector, or the beginning of a longer-term career.

People with backgrounds in hospitality, restaurants, retail, customer service, sales, performing arts, volunteering, advocacy, community organizing, and other public-facing work often bring skills that translate especially well.

Grow With Us

Public Outreach promotes from within.

Our leaders started as fundraisers, learned the work in the field, consistently reached their goals, and developed the skills to coach and lead others.

If you perform well and want more responsibility, there are opportunities to grow into training and leadership.

We don't just want you to get good at fundraising - we want you to build skills you can use throughout your career.

Who Tends to Thrive Here

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Enjoy meeting and talking with new people
  • Communicate with warmth, confidence, and personality
  • Like active work more than sitting behind a desk
  • Can hear "no" and move on to the next conversation
  • Care about nonprofit, humanitarian, environmental, animal welfare, human rights, or social justice causes
  • Like having goals to work toward
  • Are comfortable receiving coaching and trying a different approach
  • Are dependable and take your schedule seriously
  • Want to build your confidence, communication, and leadership skills

Experience is helpful, but it isn't required.

You don't need to check every box.

If you like people, care about making an impact, and are willing to learn, we'd like to meet you.

Come As You Are

We want this to be a workplace where people can actually be themselves.

Our teams include members of the LGBTQ+ community, and creating an environment where people feel safe, respected, supported, and welcome is genuinely important to us.

Queer, trans, and applicants from underrepresented communities are welcome here.

Bring your personality, your perspective, and a willingness to learn.

Before You Apply
  • You must be 18 or older
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
  • You must be able to consistently work at least 3 full 8-hour shifts per week - 24 hours minimum
  • You should be comfortable working outdoors, walking, and standing for much of your shift
  • You should be comfortable starting conversations with members of the public throughout the day
  • You need to be able to communicate confidently in English
  • You should be comfortable receiving coaching and working toward fundraising goals
What Happens Next?

We're actively interviewing and growing our NYC team over the next few weeks.

Selected applicants will be invited to meet our team, learn more about the nonprofit campaigns, and get a realistic understanding of what face-to-face fundraising is actually like.

If selected to continue, we'll guide you through the next steps and paid training.
