Stella and Charles Guttman Community College has been providing services to individuals with disabilities since 2013. Under the Division of Student Affairs, The Office of AccessABILITY Services works with students and employees who have a documented disability to provide services and accommodations ensuring the college's overall goal of excellence in student-centered learning are met.

The mission of the Office of AccessABILITY Services at Stella and Charles Guttman Community College is to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to all college programs, services and activities. It is our objective to see that students with disabilities are provided with an impactful learning experience. The Office AccessABILITY Services challenges every individual to be independent, responsible, problem-solvers and self-advocates in charge of their own lives. Our philosophy is one that encourages self-awareness, self-determination, self-advocacy and independence in an accessible environment. While preparing our students we must also enable them to live productive self-serving lives outside the walls of the College.

Neurodiversity Navigators for students on the autism spectrum. The program's mission is to provide educational opportunities to increase self-awareness, leading to successful academic outcomes in executive functioning, self-regulation, social interaction, self-advocacy, career preparation, and advocacy and access services for our neurodiversity students.

The goal of Neurodiversity Navigators will:

  • Encourage student responsibility and action in the learning process.

  • Ensuring personalized support for students working toward academic and career goals

  • Improving communication and building accountability using techniques

  • Fostering collaboration in support of student academic achievement

  • Students will identify the importance of equity and inclusion in a postsecondary setting.

  • Students will identify career goals related to their program of studies.

  • Assist students in becoming goal-oriented in selecting a program of study or career goal.

The Program Coordinator is a part-time position. The Program Coordinator will work closely with Principal Investigator (PI)/ Director of AccessABILITY Services to manage and coordinate the Project Reach/ Neurodiversity Navigators Initiative.

The grant is planned for implementation from 2025-2026. The role may require specialized schedule that consists of evening hours.

The responsibilities and duties include recruitment, outreach, networking, data collection, advisement, and communication.

  • Work with Principal Investigator (PI)/ Director of AccessABILITY Services and meet regularly to discuss learning outcomes and student progress reports.

  • Monitor caseload of 10 + students who are on the autism spectrum.

  • Recruit students who are interested in enhancing their cognitive and executive functioning in their academic journey at Guttman Community College.

  • Assist with the reporting and regulatory documents for the grant such as utilizing Accommodate, satisfaction surveys and EAB.

  • Facilitate recruitment, outreach, and networking activities with neurodiversity students within Guttman Community College.

  • Organize enrichment opportunities that allow students with Autism academic and career independence.

  • Identify, plan, and assist in executing semesterly progress reports of students with disabilities who require management/prioritization and organizational skills

  • Other duties as assigned by Principal Investigator (PI)/ Director of AccessABILITY Services.

Qualifications:

  • High School or associate's degree

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings

Pay Range:

$27.51 - $39.35
