Coordinate customer open source contribution engagements with account, product, and engineering teams. Run contributor recognition programs, develop communications and events, promote initiatives internally and externally, and improve workflows using existing tools and AI agents. This is a community and program coordination role rather than hands-on engineering.
About the Role
Join a community engineering team that grows and supports an open source contributor community for a widely used DevOps platform. You will coordinate collaborative contribution engagements between customers and internal product and engineering teams, run contributor recognition programs, and raise awareness of the team’s work inside and outside the organization. This is a program and community role rather than a hands-on engineering role: most of your time will go to coordinating people, programs, and customer engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and track customer contribution engagements, working with account, product, and engineering teams to confirm scope, priorities, and availability
- Guide early conversations with account teams and customers on what a feasible contribution looks like, and connect them with the right product and engineering leads
- Run contributor recognition programs and initiatives, including contributor awards and community highlights in release communications
- Partner with product marketing and other stakeholders to deliver program content on schedule
- Promote the team’s initiatives internally, raising awareness and enabling other teams to take part
- Promote programs externally to attract and engage contributors, including through writing and events
- Use existing tools and AI agents to deliver the work, and identify and implement workflow improvements over time
Qualifications
Required
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Comfort working directly with customers and public audiences
- Resourceful and methodical, with a strong sense of ownership and a willingness to take on varied tasks
Preferred (or a clear willingness to learn)
- AI fluency: able to build or use agents to improve workflows, with good judgment about when human review is needed
- Technical background with DevOps experience
- Contribution to an open source project, with the ability to read code and triage a merge/pull request
- Interest in occasional travel to customer sites or community events
Key Details
- Start date: As soon as possible
- Duration: Initial term through January 31, 2027, with possible extension
- Location: Remote (within the U.S.)
- Work schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, collaborating with teammates in the U.S. and Europe
- Pay rate: $45-$60/hour
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
