Operating Director, Value Creation
About Bloom Equity Partners
Bloom Equity Partners is a lower-middle-market private equity firm investing in enterprise software and tech-enabled B2B services. The Bloom operations team works hands-on with portfolio company leadership to execute value creation plans, integrate bolt-on acquisitions, and build scalable operating infrastructure across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
Role overview
The Operating Director, Value Creation works alongside the Bloom operations team and portfolio company executives to plan and execute M&A integrations, capture cost and revenue synergies, and deliver value creation initiatives from close through exit. The role carries the scope of a director of M&A integration: this person leads integrations end to end, owns the synergy case, and works directly with portfolio company executives to deliver it.
This is a generalist operating role with exposure to every functional area of a portfolio company, including finance, go-to-market, HR, technology, and legal entity structure, often across multiple countries at once.
Key responsibilities
M&A integration
  • Lead the integration management office (IMO) for bolt-on acquisitions, from pre-close planning through Day 1, the first 100 days, and full integration.
  • Direct functional workstream leads (finance, HR, IT, legal entity, GTM, product) and track milestones, dependencies, and risks.
  • Lead the integration workstream of pre-close diligence: organizational mapping, systems and vendor overlap, contract review, and Day 1 readiness.
  • Prepare integration status reporting for Bloom partners, portfolio company leadership, and boards.
Cost and revenue synergies
  • Build synergy models that quantify cost opportunities (headcount, vendor and software consolidation, facilities, entity rationalization) and revenue opportunities (cross-sell, pricing, packaging).
  • Establish synergy baselines, owners, and tracking; report realized versus planned synergies on a regular cadence.
  • Partner with portfolio company finance teams to reflect synergies in budgets, forecasts, and EBITDA bridges.
Value creation
  • Translate investment theses into value creation plans with defined initiatives, owners, KPIs, and timelines.
  • Run analyses on pricing, sales productivity, customer retention, organizational design, and operating cost structure.
  • Build and maintain KPI dashboards and scorecards used in operating reviews and board meetings.
  • Contribute to quarterly board decks and LP-facing portfolio updates.
Portfolio support
  • Work directly with portfolio company CEOs, CFOs, and functional leaders on priority projects.
  • Support reorganizations, workforce planning, and operating model design, including in non-US jurisdictions.
  • Develop repeatable playbooks, templates, and tools the operations team can reuse across the portfolio.
Qualifications
Required
  • 8–12 years of experience across private equity portfolio operations, PE-backed portfolio companies, management consulting, transaction advisory, or corporate development.
  • Has led at least one M&A integration end to end, as IMO lead or integration manager, at a PE-backed portfolio company or acquirer.
  • Strong financial modeling skills in Excel, including synergy models, operating budgets, and EBITDA bridges.
  • Ability to build clear, board-quality presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable managing multiple workstreams and stakeholders at once with limited supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, or a related field.
Preferred
  • Has led multiple bolt-on integrations, including integrations running in parallel.
  • Experience in enterprise software or tech-enabled B2B services.
  • Exposure to cross-border integrations and multi-entity structures (UK, EU, APAC).
  • Familiarity with SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC payback, gross margin) and CRM data (HubSpot or Salesforce).
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate analysis, reporting, or operating workflows.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
What success looks like in the first year
  • Has led at least one bolt-on acquisition from Day 1 through full integration, with synergy delivery tracked against plan.
  • Synergy targets have named owners, baselines, and a reporting cadence that portfolio company leadership and Bloom partners rely on.
  • Has delivered at least one value creation analysis that led to a decision by a portfolio company CEO or board.
  • Has contributed reusable templates (IMO plan, synergy model, Day 1 checklist) to the Bloom operations toolkit.
  • Is trusted by portfolio company executives as a day-to-day working partner.
Location, compensation, and reporting line
  • Location: In office, New York, NY.
  • Base salary: $200,000–$260,000 per year. Final base salary within this range depends on experience and qualifications.
  • Bonus: Eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus.
  • Travel: Regular travel to portfolio companies, including international travel (open question: expected percentage).
  • Reports to: Senior Operating Partner
