The Operating Supervisor will be responsible for directing and supervising field forces for the physical installation, removal, repair and replacement of underground and overhead electric mains and services in compliance with operating procedures, environmental laws and PSC guidelines. Ensure the safe, timely and efficient installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of electric mains, services in accordance with operating procedures, engineering plans and requirements of regulatory agencies, including all safety standards set by OSHA, the US DOT, and the Company.

ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities
  • Foster a Zero Accident Culture while advancing diversity and inclusion, operational excellence, cost management, and customer experience.
  • Provide round the clock operational support for system emergencies and Incident Command System (ICS) events.
  • Oversee the repair, maintenance, and tracking of equipment, vehicles, and supplies to ensure operational readiness.
  • Monitor quality, productivity, and performance, actively identifying continuous improvement and cost saving opportunities.
  • Utilize enterprise systems and emerging technologies to schedule work, close out jobs, conduct audits, and streamline processes.
  • Foster a positive and accountable work environment, recognizing achievements and providing performance feedback to support employee development.
  • Supervise personnel and ensure adequate staffing, resources, schedules, and training compliance across assigned operations.
  • Serve as a liaison with external agencies, ensuring all work performed meets established quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate personnel schedules, training records, time entry, and operational documentation.
  • Integrate Human Performance Improvement (HPI) tools into daily work activities and operational decision making.
  • Ensure all electrical distribution activitiesincluding installation, removal, repair, testing, and replacementcomply with operating procedures, engineering specifications, and safety standards.
  • Ensure implementation of company safety, health, environmental, and regulatory programs, and monitor compliance with all corporate policies including EEO, Code of Conduct, discipline, security, substance abuse, productivity, and environmental requirements.
Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of related work experience. or
  • Associate's Degree and 4 years of related work experience. or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of related work experience.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering/Technology/Business Management and 4 years of related work experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology/Business Management and 2 years of related work experience.

Relevant Work Experience

  • Must have the ability to understand and interpret field constructed drawings and layouts, required.
  • Must have a high regard for personal accountability, and understand the critical importance of commitment to excellence, required.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, required.
  • Must be able to effectively interact with customers, union personnel, and various levels of management, required.
  • Must have prior supervisory experience, required.
  • Must understand the vital importance of teamwork, communication, and promoting a positive work ethic in support of Corporate Values and Mission, required.
  • Must be flexible in handling multiple work assignments, changing priorities, and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines, required.
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment, and render sound business decisions, required.
  • Must have excellent organizational and planning skills to include cost analysis and control, required.
  • Must have knowledge of the Construction and Electrical Work rules, required.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
  • Perform work in underground vaults through manholes
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Ability to use hand tools and operate heavy machinery, i.e. jackhammers
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
