Job Summary:
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for managing a designated territory and customer base, ensuring existing customer satisfaction, and achieving new account acquisition and sales goals. The role involves frequent travel within the assigned territory, providing technical support, and collaborating with both internal teams and customers to ensure successful application and delivery of industrial equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Territory and Customer Management: Establish and manage sales objectives, goals, and forecasts for the designated territory.
  • Field Visits and Travel: Conduct regular field visits throughout the assigned region to engage with customers, understand their needs, and drive sales.
  • Technical Assistance and Product Education: Collaborate with customer technical teams to specify and apply industrial equipment, while offering ongoing product education and technical support.
  • Customer Relationship Building: Maintain and enhance relationships with existing customers, ensuring their satisfaction and loyalty while also identifying new business opportunities.
  • Dispute Resolution: Act as a point of contact for resolving customer disputes, working closely with office staff and factory personnel to address and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Sales Performance and Reporting: Regularly report on sales activity, market trends, customer feedback, and progress toward meeting or exceeding sales goals.

Qualifications and Core Competencies:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 – 5 years of successful experience in an engineering or technical role within an industrial setting, preferably in valves, flow control products, or related industries. Alternatively, equivalent sales experience is acceptable.
  • Education: A BS degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred. However, a high school diploma combined with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to listen actively, clarify customer needs, and provide clear explanations.
  • Customer Service and Relationship Management: Strong customer service skills with demonstrated ability to build, manage, and nurture long-term customer relationships.
  • Self-Motivated: Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, set personal goals, and take the initiative to achieve results.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to understand and explain the application of industrial equipment in customer processes, identifying and addressing customer needs.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proactive in identifying solutions and resolving customer challenges effectively and efficiently.
  • Travel Requirement: Willingness to travel extensively within the designated territory to meet with customers and support sales efforts.
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license required; personal vehicle available for sales and service calls.
  • Background Check: Credit check, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and Non- DOT Physical required as part of the background screening process.
  • Compliance: Must adhere to Bray’s Drivers Policy, including maintaining adequate auto liability insurance and following company safety practices.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent travel required (within the designated territory).
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and be able to manage travel arrangements.
