The Role:

Blue Owl is looking for an Associate to join the Legal Specialists team. We are looking for a dynamic and proactive team player who will work closely with members of the Blue Owl Compliance, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Investor Relations, Operations, Technology, and Investment Teams.

The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented and organized individual who can manage multiple projects and who is excited about supporting a Legal team that covers a broad range of issues. We are looking for candidates who are intellectually curious and interested in the intersection of law, technology, and finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Transactional Support: Assist legal and deal teams on M&A, fund formation, and other corporate transactions, including drafting and managing signature pages, closing sets, and ancillary documents.
  • Diligence: Review client facing documents, coordinate KYC/AML processes, manage data rooms, and support investor onboarding and regulatory compliance during fundraising efforts
  • Document Management & Organization: Maintain and organize corporate records, NDAs, board and stockholder consents, and transaction files; ensure version control and timely execution across multiple workstreams
  • Advise corporate center and business partners on strategies to mitigate legal and business risks in vendor relationships
  • Assist in daily operations of technology solution to manage contract lifecycle and store executed commercial agreements
  • Review commercial contracts including sponsorship agreements and event contracts, and oversee external counsel’s review of the same
  • Provide support to the day-to-day operations of the Legal department
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets and materials using data from across the organization
  • Oversee external counsel’s review of a high volume of commercial agreements and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) in coordination with external counsel
  • Develop strong working relationships and partnerships with other teams to support client needs
  • Ensure that all Legal team records are stored in secure, organized file systems to support shared knowledge and compliant record-keeping
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities for the Legal team
  • Coordinate signatures for documents and various materials

Qualifications:

  • 3 – 4 years of experience at major law firm or in-house legal department, prior experience with commercial contracts preferred
  • Prior experience in financial services preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated drive for results and ability to prioritize risks and projects to focus on what’s important in a fast- paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent planning and organization skills; meticulous attention to detail is a must
  • Strong working knowledge of Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solutions-oriented problem solver
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to roll up sleeves to get things done
  • Team player with enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity to learn more

It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York City-based position will be $110,000 - $130,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
