The Path to Advice team is focused on driving new asset and client growth across our Advisor, Workplace and Self-directed segments. The Path to Advice team oversees the strategy and execution of that client journey, supporting clients as they move from those segments to the advice channel.

The team’s remit spans multiple Morgan Stanley lines of business, including Morgan Stanley at Work Equity Administration, Retirement Solutions, E*TRADE, Banking & Lending, and Investment Solutions. The team’s portfolio of work evolves along with the broader business and market landscape, and has included developing franchise client engagement solutions (e.g., for M&A and IPO events), optimizing lead generation and distribution platforms (e.g., AI-based lead matching), driving organic and inorganic growth (e.g., strategic partnerships, new product areas).

Position Summary

We are seeking a Vice President to help lead strategy and execution efforts across the Path to Advice team. This individual will join a team of high-performers from a diverse set of backgrounds who have a proven record of executing on the Firm’s strategy to deepen client relationships across multiple channels.

This role requires a high impact team member who is able to couple Wealth Management industry knowledge with generalist business acumen and strategy experience. In this role, you will shape the strategy of several initiatives the Path to Advice team is standing up, which may include development of GenAI and Automation capabilities purpose-built to streamline operations or drive top-line growth. This role will require someone who is able to balance big picture thinking with operational expertise – someone capable of standing up new initiatives and scaling them quickly to win new client relationships.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Corporate and Program Strategy
    • Develop new strategies to achieve firmwide objectives
    • Create concise and effective presentations supporting strategic initiatives
    • Participate in discussions with senior management and support delivery of conclusions derived from projects to advise on real-time issues as well as longer-term strategic efforts 
    • Support test & learn campaigns, including analyzing high-level performance data, and identifying optimization opportunities
  • Program Leadership and Execution:
    • Lead cross-functional initiatives from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with stakeholders on goals, timelines and key deliverables
    • Collaborate with teams across business units and geographic regions to drive strategic projects and operational improvements
    • As a leader on the team, you will be expected to provide data-driven insights, while in parallel coaching other team members on how to perform analysis and craft recommendations
  • Cross-organization Coordination
    • Partner with core partner businesses across the end-to-end customer journey
    • The role will be field-facing, requiring the candidate to work closely with Financial Advisors and Field Management
    • Work across multiple lines of business to improve identification, delivery, and execution of opportunities sent to Financial Advisors

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA a plus
  • 7+ years in top-tier management consulting, technology or financial services firm
  • Experience in financial services preferred, Wealth Management expertise a plus

Skills Required

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; robust financial modeling skills a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaborative work style and leadership presence; demonstrated ability to influence others and earn trust of peers and senior management across an organization
  • Project management skills, including ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and comfort with changing or tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to break down complex ideas into clear, concise concepts; experience in developing C-level presentations a plus
  • Detail and results-oriented individual
  • Strong team player, and high energy, and motivated by fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $115,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
