Build and lead the People Operations function for a rapidly scaling healthcare technology company. Responsibilities include designing HR systems and AI workflows, developing people metrics and dashboards, managing compensation, benefits, equity, payroll, leave, immigration, and employee lifecycle programs, and supporting executive decision-making. The role requires strong HR generalist expertise, total rewards ownership, analytical ability, and experience scaling People Operations at an early-stage technology company.

Courier Health is on a mission to solve one of the biggest and most meaningful opportunities in healthcare: reinvent how people living with chronic and rare diseases are supported.

We are building the future of patient engagement for life sciences companies. Our software is leveraged by biopharma companies to support patients in their complex journey from diagnosis to initiating and remaining on therapy to achieve optimal health outcomes.

Come Build with Us

We’re an NYC-based team that believes culture, craft, and customer obsession go hand in hand. We show up for each other the same way we show up for the people we serve. We’re an office-first company that values in-person collaboration 4 days per week because we believe the best work happens when you can collaborate and brainstorm together in the same room. If that sounds like your kind of place, we think you’ll love it here.

The Opportunity

Courier Health is at an inflection point. We exist to get patients faster, better access to life-saving therapies, and every person we hire extends that reach. We’ve grown from 60 people to 140 this year, and the systems that got us here won’t carry us further. This role owns that.
As People Operations Lead, you’ll report to our Chief People Officer and build the infrastructure, data, and programs that help a growing team do its best work. You’ll start as a team of one and use AI to do more than a team of one usually can. Most of this function is still unwritten. If you’ve helped a startup scale from Series A or B and want to build a people function with direct access to leadership, this is the seat.

What You’ll Build

A people function that runs on systems, not memory. We have a solid base in our HRIS, policies, and handbook. You’ll decide what to bring in-house, what to automate with AI, and what to retire, and you’ll document it all so the function runs without depending on any one person.

Data that tells leadership the truth about the team. You’ll define the people metrics that matter, build the dashboards that track them, and turn the numbers into a story our executives can act on.

Total rewards that are competitive, fair, and defensible. You’ll own compensation, benefits, and equity, including salary bands, benchmarking, and pay equity analysis. Every comp decision should be consistent and easy to explain.

An employee experience worth showing up for. You’ll own the lifecycle from offer to exit, handle the benefits, leave, payroll, and immigration questions that need real judgment, and build how we recognize great work. As we double in size, you’ll help keep what makes this team feel like a team.

What Makes You Successful

  • 5+ years in People Operations or HR, including time at an early-stage tech company that scaled from Series A or B.
  • Hands-on experience with a PEO and moving HR administration in-house.
  • Proven ownership of total rewards, including band design, benchmarking, and pay equity analysis.
  • Experience building AI-powered workflows in an HR or People context.
  • Analytically sharp, with advanced spreadsheet skills and strong fluency in HRIS and reporting tools.
  • Strong generalist foundations across benefits, leave, payroll, and compliance.
  • A track record of building process where none existed, and a habit of starting with a draft instead of waiting for a perfect brief.
  • High judgment and discretion. You know what to escalate, what to just solve, and how to handle sensitive matters well.
  • Clear, crisp written communication.

Bonus points if:

  • You have program management experience running cross-functional initiatives.

Benefits

  • 100% paid employee health benefit options (including medical, dental, and vision)
  • 401(k) with employer funded match
  • Unlimited Vacation
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Paid parental leave
  • Catered lunch on Fridays
  • Wellness stipend
  • Great Place to Work Certified

The annual salary range for the target level for this role is $140,000 - $175,000 plus equity + benefits, including medical, dental, and vision.
