The role:

Responsible for physical security operations, investigations, executive protection support, incident response, and threat management functions across corporate environments and operational facilities. Serve as an operational leader within the broader Global Security & Investigations organization, responsible for managing day-to-day security operations, sensitive investigations, workplace violence prevention initiatives, executive protection assignments, and emergency response coordination while supporting enterprise security strategy and operational resilience.

This role combines investigative expertise, operational leadership, and protective operations experience with strong judgment, crisis response capabilities, and cross-functional collaboration. The position assists with physical security operations including incident management, threat assessment, executive protection support, law enforcement coordination, guard force oversight, emergency preparedness, and operational security initiatives while partnering closely with Legal, HR, Compliance, Risk, Cybersecurity, Workplace Services, Facilities, and executive leadership.

The ideal candidate is operationally mature, highly adaptable, and capable of managing sensitive investigations, responding to critical incidents, coordinating protective operations, and supporting enterprise-wide security initiatives in a fast-paced corporate environment. Strong experience in law enforcement, criminal investigations, military operations, executive protection, or corporate security operations is highly valued.

What you'll do:

Investigations & Threat Management
  • Lead investigations involving workplace violence, threats, theft, fraud, unauthorized access, misconduct, suspicious activity, and other physical security-related incidents.

  • Conduct interviews, gather evidence, document findings, and prepare investigative reports for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Support behavioral threat assessment and workplace violence prevention initiatives across corporate environments.

  • Coordinate with HR, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations, and executive leadership during sensitive investigations and escalated personnel matters.

  • Monitor, assess, and respond to threats involving employees, executives, facilities, and corporate operations.

  • Maintain investigative case documentation, evidence handling procedures, and audit-ready reporting standards.

  • Conduct post-incident reviews and identify operational improvements, risk mitigation opportunities, and corrective actions.

  • Support investigations involving insider threats, financial crimes, cyber-enabled incidents, and coordinated operational threats in partnership with Cybersecurity and Fraud teams.

  • Assist with intelligence gathering, situational awareness reporting, and threat monitoring activities related to employee safety and operational risk.

Executive Protection & Protective Operations
  • Serve as an executive protection asset for senior leadership during corporate events, travel, public engagements, and elevated threat situations.

  • Support executive protection operations including advance planning, site assessments, route analysis, travel coordination, and protective intelligence activities.

  • Conduct operational planning and risk assessments for executive meetings, conferences, offsite events, and high-profile engagements.

  • Respond rapidly to threats, harassment, suspicious activity, or incidents involving executive leadership.

  • Coordinate closely with executive assistants, event organizers, vendors, and external protective resources to ensure operational readiness.

  • Maintain readiness to support emergency executive protection deployments and high-risk operational environments.

  • Assist with development and refinement of executive protection procedures, standards, and operational protocols.

Security Operations Management
  • Support daily physical security operations across assigned facilities and operational environments.

  • Coordinate response efforts for critical incidents including medical emergencies, workplace violence concerns, protests, suspicious packages, evacuations, fires, and operational disruptions.

  • Serve as an escalation resource during incidents requiring coordinated security response and operational leadership.

  • Manage and support guard force operations including:

    • Post order development

    • Incident escalation procedures

    • Vendor coordination

    • Staffing oversight

    • Operational compliance reviews

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), response protocols, and operational documentation.

  • Conduct security risk assessments, operational reviews, and site walkthroughs to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.

  • Partner with Workplace Services and Facilities teams to maintain safe and secure workplace environments.

  • Support emergency response coordination and crisis management activities during elevated threat situations and operational incidents.

Crisis Management & Emergency Preparedness
  • Support crisis management, emergency response, and business continuity initiatives from a physical security and operational readiness perspective.

  • Assist in development and execution of emergency response procedures including:

    • Active assailant response

    • Shelter-in-place procedures

    • Evacuation protocols

    • Fire/life safety coordination

    • Severe weather response

    • Emergency communications

  • Participate in tabletop exercises, emergency drills, after-action reviews, and operational readiness assessments.

  • Coordinate with Site Leadership Teams, Workplace Services, and external emergency responders during emergency preparedness activities.

  • Lead and facilitate employee security awareness training programs including:

    • Workplace violence prevention

    • Active shooter response

    • De-escalation techniques

    • Situational awareness

    • Emergency preparedness

    • Travel safety

Law Enforcement & External Agency Coordination
  • Serve as a liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies regarding investigations, physical security matters, emergency response coordination, and executive protection operations.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with public safety organizations, intelligence groups, emergency management agencies, and industry security partners.

  • Coordinate with fire rescue, EMS, property management, and external emergency response personnel during incidents and preparedness activities.

  • Support criminal referrals, evidence coordination, subpoena requests, and investigative collaboration when appropriate.

  • Represent SoFi during meetings, investigations, emergency coordination efforts, and security-related engagements involving external agencies and stakeholders.

Operational Leadership & Cross-Functional Support
  • Support strategic initiatives related to enterprise physical security, investigations, and operational risk management.

  • Develop security status reports, incident summaries, executive briefings, and operational updates for leadership.

  • Assist with physical security audits and compliance reviews involving OCC, Federal Reserve, CFPB, OFAC, Deloitte, internal audit, and other oversight entities.

  • Coordinate with Facilities, HR, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Cybersecurity, IT, Workplace Services, and Operations teams on security initiatives and incident response activities.

  • Conduct site risk assessments across corporate offices and operational facilities as needed.

  • Support vendor management activities involving guard force providers, consultants, and operational partners.

  • Assist with implementation of operational improvements, workplace safety initiatives, and enterprise security standards.

  • Travel as needed in support of executive protection operations, investigations, incident response activities, and corporate security initiatives.

Security Technology & Systems Support
  • Maintain working knowledge of enterprise physical security technologies and operational security systems.

  • Support troubleshooting, operational coordination, and deployment activities involving:

    • Access control systems

    • Video surveillance platforms

    • AI-driven monitoring solutions

    • Visitor management platforms

    • Intrusion detection systems

  • Partner with Security Technology, IT, and Cybersecurity teams to support secure and reliable operation of physical security systems.

  • Assist with physical security technology projects, system upgrades, investigations support, and operational deployments as needed.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and intelligence platforms that improve investigations, situational awareness, and operational response capabilities.

What you'll need:

  • 10+ years of experience in law enforcement, criminal investigations, military operations, executive protection, intelligence, or corporate security operations.

  • Demonstrated experience leading investigations, incident response activities, and operational security initiatives.

  • Prior experience supporting executive protection operations for executives, dignitaries, public officials, or high-profile individuals.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Criminal investigations

    • Executive protection methodologies

  • Exceptional judgment and decision-making abilities in high-pressure and rapidly evolving situations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to brief executives, coordinate with law enforcement, and prepare professional investigative documentation.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple operational priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Willingness to travel and maintain 24/7 on-call availability for emergencies, executive protection operations, and critical incidents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Security Management, Intelligence Studies, or related field.

  • Prior experience with:

    • Federal law enforcement agencies

    • Intelligence organizations

    • Military special operations

    • Protective intelligence programs

    • Corporate enterprise security environments

  • Experience conducting investigations involving fraud, insider threats, workplace violence, or organized criminal activity.

  • Industry certifications including:

    • CPP (Certified Protection Professional)

    • PSP (Physical Security Professional)

    • PCI (Professional Certified Investigator)

    • Executive Protection certifications

    • FEMA / ICS certifications

  • Experience supporting security operations within financial services, fintech, or highly regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with enterprise physical security systems and AI-enabled monitoring platforms.

  • Experience delivering security awareness training and emergency preparedness programs.

  • Spanish language proficiency strongly preferred.

  • Prior military, federal investigative, intelligence, or protective operations experience are highly valued.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to respond to emergencies and critical incidents outside of standard business hours.

  • Availability for 24/7 on-call support involving security incidents, executive protection operations, and emergency response activities.

  • Frequent interaction with executives, law enforcement agencies, and sensitive operational environments.

  • Occasional travel required for investigations, executive protection assignments, incident response, and operational meetings.

  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure, and rapidly evolving environments.

Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
