Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Platform Architect with strong domain expertise across Custody, Wealth, and Asset Management to define, shape, and deliver modern platform architecture aligned to business and technology strategy. This role requires deep architectural capability combined with practical engineering credibility. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with product, engineering, operations, data, and business stakeholders to design scalable, resilient, secure, and high-performing solutions across critical platforms.
This is not a purely conceptual architecture role. We are looking for someone who remains technically hands-on, can guide engineering teams through complex implementation decisions, and is comfortable engaging from strategy through execution. This role is located in New York City.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Define and evolve platform architecture strategy and technical governance across applications and services supporting Custody, Wealth, and Asset Management; translate business priorities and regulatory requirements into scalable roadmaps, blueprints, target-state designs, and modernization strategies aligned to enterprise principles, security, resiliency, and engineering best practices.
- Partner with business and product stakeholders across custody operations, asset servicing, portfolio administration, wealth platforms, investment workflows, client reporting, accounting, reconciliation, and operational controls to improve platform design, data flow, interoperability, and operational efficiency; support simplification and modernization of legacy workflows and platforms.
- Drive engineering excellence and hands-on delivery through prototyping, design validation, code reviews, technical troubleshooting, and implementation guidance; enable API-first design, event-driven architectures, robust integration patterns, CI/CD, testing, observability, reliability, security-by-design, performance optimization, and operational readiness.
- Enable cloud, data, and AI by designing applications and platforms on Azure and/or AWS; promote cloud-native services, containerization, infrastructure automation, resilient distributed patterns; architect data models, pipelines, metadata strategies, and analytics-ready platforms; identify and shape governed, secure AI/GenAI use cases such as knowledge retrieval, intelligent workflows, summarization, classification, and productivity improvements.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred but not required.
- Significant experience in platform and solution architecture, distributed systems design, and engineering within financial services or similarly complex regulated industries; demonstrated delivery in Custody, Wealth, and/or Asset Management; track record leading architecture for complex enterprise platforms and transformation initiatives.
- Hands-on expertise with Azure and/or AWS (compute, storage, networking, managed services), cloud-native application design, Kubernetes/container platforms, infrastructure as code, deployment automation, security/identity integration; proven ability to design and deliver microservices, event-driven systems, API-first platforms, high-availability/resilient architectures, and scalable batch/real-time processing solutions, including integration and modernization approaches.
- Strong data architecture and engineering background (data modeling, integration and transformation pipelines, metadata/lineage, data quality/governance) with practical exposure to AI/GenAI (enterprise workflow integration, retrieval-augmented generation, LLM-enabled search/summarization/classification, responsible AI and model governance) across structured and unstructured data, supporting transactional and analytical workloads.
- People Leadership requirement (if applicable): Experience mentoring engineers and junior architects; ability to communicate architecture decisions to technical and non-technical audiences and influence strategic technology decisions through expertise and delivery focus.
