The successful candidate will partner with the PMG (Portfolio Management Group) COO and their team to drive completion of critical projects, prioritize engagements and prepare materials for key events for the Head and the Deputy Head of PMG.  In addition, they will also provide business management support for the PMG COO.   The role will involve close collaboration with PMG Exco (Executive Commitee), client teams, PMG COOs, Finance, HR, Risk and Legal & Compliance.

The candidate should know how to navigate a matrix organization, operate in a highly proactive and resourceful manner and demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills.  Interpersonal skills will be critically important to build strong relationships with peers and develop connectivity, as well as the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

The candidate will be well organized and have a highly critical eye for detail to ensure all commitments are delivered consistently to high standards in a timely manner on behalf of the PMG leadership team.   In addition, they should be an independent thinker who is capable of driving multiple initiatives forward simultaneously, using sound judgement to prioritize and multi-task where needed.

Key Responsibilities

Support the PMG COO and their team in all day-to-day operations including:

  • Execution of priorities:

    • Collaborate with global, corporate and functional stakeholders to plan, maintain and drive strategic initiatives.  Responsibilities include project planning, establishing governance, cross-functional coordination & communication on progress back to PMG COO & stakeholders

    • Deliver ad hoc assignments initiated by the PMG COO.  Scope, plan and execute multiple, often quick-turnaround projects with “no natural home”

    • When appropriate, oversee transfer of completed projects to businesses/functions

  • Communication

    • Serve as a key liaison between the PMG COO and internal stakeholders acting as; point of escalation & provider of advice/direction ensure efficient operations

    • Prepare presentations, memos, talking points and speeches for the Head of PMG, Deputy Head of PMG and the PMG COO for internal management meetings, Boards, client presentations, regulatory engagement, industry conferences and town halls.

    • Execute on (or oversee) clear action items and commitments following meetings

    • Prepare the meeting agenda, prepare minutes and drive follow-up actions to ensure speedy completion for the PMG ExCo and other senior meetings as required

  • Operational Efficiency:

    • Partner with regional and functional leaders and COOs to help with cross-functional coordination, to resolve bottlenecks and to guide execution and drive accountability across the many PMG businesses.

    • Proactively identify issues and challenges and offer potential solutions

    • Leverage technology to drive greater efficiency and to scale operations; bridging the gap between business requirements and technology solutions

  • Business Management Support:

    • Work with data/MIS to support the day-to-day management of PMG

    • Ensure that ‘business as usual’ needs are met, including shepherding corporate processes, etc.

Knowledge /Experience:

  • A track record of successful engagement and delivery on strategic and day to day projects

  • A strong contributor with the ability to remain calm under pressure and keen to “roll up the sleeves” to accomplish necessary tasks

  • Demonstrated work ethic, emotional ownership and sense of urgency

  • Strong organizational skills and judgement and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously liaising with colleagues at all levels

  • Exceptional process management skills with a very keen eye for detail

  • Analytical and inquisitive mindset with strong orientation towards learning and growth

  • Strong command of Microsoft suite including Excel, PowerPoint and other A1 technology skills would be beneficial

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to distil most relevant insights from meetings / documents quickly and efficiently

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust-based relationships with peers, partners and senior colleagues effectively

  • Demonstrated commitment to BlackRock’s culture; ability to build trusted relationships with peers and partner functions

  • High degree of professional discretion and integrity


 

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
