Fiercely independent and armed with irreverent intelligence, we reach an audience that craves bold takes, scoops, and smart, relevant storytelling. Now we’re expanding our presence in audio.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Podcast Producer to lead the production of a slate of audio shows, including weekly talk formats and narrative specials. You’ll work day in and day out with Joanna Coles, our Chief Creative and Content Officer to expand our podcast offerings, creating new formats to showcase our talent and refining the shows we already have to make them even more successful. You’ll also work closely with other hosts, editors, and the broader editorial and marketing teams to shape episodes from pre-production to final mix. You’ll be hands-on in ideation, booking, scripting, editing, sound design, and publishing—and you’ll play a central role in developing The Daily Beast’s audio brand and voice.

Reports To: Executive Editor/Chief Content Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality, timely episodes for multiple podcast formats, including panel shows, interviews, and deep-dive narratives.
  • Own the production cycle: from pitch to scripting, recording, editing, and publishing.
  • Book guests and conduct pre-interviews to help guide discussions and maintain show tone.
  • Collaborate with hosts to shape story angles and ensure strong editorial cohesion.
  • Edit video and audio using Pro Tools, Audition, or similar software; handle mixing and sound design.
  • Collect Video: record video for the various shows and work with a video producer/editor to publish full video for each episode as well as cut-ups for YouTube and social media
  • Coordinate production schedules and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Work with marketing and audience teams to create promotional assets and help grow podcast audiences.
  • Track metrics and performance, using data to help inform editorial and format decisions.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of podcast production experience, preferably in news and politics.
  • Familiarity with Daily Beast stories, voice and coverage areas.
  • Strong editorial judgment and storytelling instincts.
  • Proven ability to produce multiple shows or series at once and juggle competing priorities.
  • Experience booking high-profile guests and working with on-air talent.
  • Proficiency with audio editing and sound design software.
  • Collaborative spirit with strong communication and project management skills.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of an ambitious and fast-growing audio operation within a high-profile media brand.
  • Work with top-tier talent and an agenda-setting editorial team.
  • Enjoy competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a creative, collaborative work culture.
