Principal Clinical Content- Physician (Clinical AI Strategist - UpToDate®) - Partnerships
LOCATION: Remote/hybrid. Candidates within commuting distance of a Wolters Kluwer office will be considered for hybrid employment. Candidates not within commuting distances will be considered for remote employment.
OVERVIEW
Wolters Kluwer, UpToDate® and Lexidrug® is seeking experienced clinicians to join our team as Clinical Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategists. This role is central to shaping the future of trustworthy, clinically intelligent AI systems and ensuring that our clinical content and solutions are developed and deployed in ways that preserve clinical accuracy, quality, and trust.
You will work cross-functionally across Clinical AI, Product, Engineering, Editorial, and Business Development to develop and continuously improve our clinical AI solutions and support their implementation with strategic partners and customers. You will bring strong clinical expertise, academic and research experience, and exceptional communication skills to help advance our solutions, guide their clinically appropriate deployment, and represent Wolters Kluwer’s approach to trustworthy clinical decision support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical AI Strategy & Development
- Collaborate on cross-functional teams to design, refine, validate, and continuously improve clinical AI systems and clinical decision support solutions.
- Contribute clinical expertise to clinical reasoning frameworks, decision pathways, evaluation approaches, and other methodologies that reflect real-world clinical decision making.
- Lead and contribute to clinical validation activities, including clinical test sets and benchmarks, safety evaluation, and expert testing to ensure outputs are clinically accurate, faithful, and meaningful.
- Translate clinician, customer, and partner feedback into system improvements, working closely with Product, Engineering, Editorial, and Clinical AI teams.
- Monitor developments in clinical AI, evidence-based medicine, regulatory frameworks, and risk management relevant to trustworthy clinical AI.
Strategic Partnerships & Clinical Deployment
- Partner closely with Business Development and cross-functional teams as a clinical representative of Clinical AI in strategic partner and customer engagements.
- Communicate Wolters Kluwer’s approach to clinical accuracy, quality, safety, and trustworthy clinical AI, including the safeguards and methodologies used in the development and deployment of our solutions.
- Provide clinical guidance throughout partner and customer implementations, helping ensure our content and solutions are integrated and deployed in clinically appropriate ways.
- Review implementations of our clinical content and solutions within partner and customer platforms from a clinical perspective and contribute to required approval and sign-off processes.
- Work with partners, customers, and internal teams to design and execute clinical outcomes studies that evaluate the impact of integrating Wolters Kluwer solutions into clinical workflows.
- Represent Wolters Kluwer through clinical thought leadership activities, including conference presentations, roundtable discussions, client presentations, interviews, publications, and case studies.
Clinical Practice (optional – up to 20%)
Clinicians may allocate time to maintain active clinical practice, ensuring continued relevance and real-world insight; existing clinical stipend for physician editors will continue to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- MD, DO, PharmD, Advanced Practice Provider, or equivalent clinical degree.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of clinical practice, with demonstrated depth in patient care and experience across areas such as clinical research, medical education, patient safety, quality improvement, clinical informatics, or publishing.
- Strong academic or scholarly background, demonstrated through clinical research, publication, medical education, or other scholarly activity.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based medicine and clinical decision making, with the ability to critically evaluate clinical evidence and its application within clinical products and workflows.
- Experience in clinical research or outcomes research, including the ability to design, evaluate, and communicate studies and their findings.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex clinical concepts clearly and credibly to clinical, technical, business, and external audiences.
- Strong cross-functional experience and the ability to build trusted relationships across clinical, product, business, technical, and research teams.
- Familiarity with generative AI and its application in healthcare, including an understanding of the opportunities, limitations, and clinical considerations associated with AI-enabled clinical decision support.
- Experience in product, digital health, clinical technology, business development, strategic partnerships, or customer-facing environments is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to independently lead complex clinical initiatives.
- Comfort with ambiguity and rapid iteration, with the ability to adapt based on evidence, feedback, evolving technology, and business needs.
- Active clinical practice preferred; board certification preferred.
- Valid medical license in at least one U.S. state preferred.
TRAVEL: 20% travel will be required for team meetings and partner, customer meetings, research, and thought leadership activities.

Compensation:
$173,500.00 - $310,000.00 USDThis role is eligible for Bonus.
Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position. Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
