Vox is looking for an experienced producer to join our award-winning video team. You will be part of a team that creates thoughtful, original midform videos, preserving the explanatory DNA that is essential to Vox, while also developing new video formats and series.

Top candidates will have a professional background in video journalism with exceptional shooting, scripting and editing skills. The producer will be expected to pitch, develop, research and report original video explainers on deadline and produce best-in-class video storytelling that Vox has become known for. 

This person will also be a creative thinker who wants to experiment with new storytelling formats. We want someone who’s not afraid to try new things and learn from them. There are many ways to create an explainer, and the right candidate will bring innovation and fresh ideas to the position. 

This role is based in New York and is a hybrid role that will require some in-office days.

• Pitch, research, report and script original video stories. 
• Shoot and edit videos in-studio and in the field. 
• Manage every aspect of video production from start to finish, delivering high-quality results efficiently and on deadline. 
• Manage multiple projects at various stages of production in a fast-paced setting and maintain a pipeline of work; this role will require strong organizational and time-management skills. 
• Occasionally jump on camera when it makes sense, bringing your own voice and personality to videos. 
• Collaborate closely with journalists across the Vox newsroom to turn our journalism into smart, timely videos.
• Develop innovative storytelling techniques and formats.
• Adhere to all journalistic and legal standards at all times.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

We’re looking for a creative, enthusiastic producer with a passion for Vox’s explanatory mission. You’ll have:

• 2-4 years of experience in video journalism. 
• A passion for Vox’s mission of helping audiences understand what really matters.
• An established record of deep research, reporting, scripting and high-quality field production.
• Expert-level understanding of Adobe Suite, with a high-level of expertise in Premiere and knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Familiarity with YouTube video production and publishing, as well as, vertical video editing tools such as Capcut, Descript.
• Proficiency with studio lighting setups and field shoots
• Strong communication, organizational and time-management skills, as well as, attention to detail.
• Collaborative team player who will enjoy working across the organization.
