New York, NY • Full-time • Hybrid (3+ days/week in office)
ABOUT GOVSIGNALSGovSignals is the AI system of work for government contracting. It can take the government longer to buy a capability than an adversary takes to field one, and we exist to close that gap.
We're the only startup managing government contract data with AI in both FedRAMP High and DoW Impact Level 5 environments. Our platform monitors 5,000+ live government data sources, 100,000+ federal and state agencies, and 2,000,000+ government contracts in real time. Our customers in government include offices like DIU and SOCOM, and our customers in industry range from small contractors to Fortune 500 primes with billions in annual awards. In the past 18 months, we've earned FedRAMP High and IL5 authorizations, joined GSA MAS and the MDA SHIELD IDIQ, and signed some of the biggest names in government contracting.
ABOUT THE ROLEWe're hiring a Product Engineer to expand our product engineering team. You'll work directly with the CPO and own entire customer-facing product areas from whiteboard to production.
Our users run billions of dollars in government contracts through GovSignals. You'll plan, build and ship features daily, and you'll own them once they're live. When something you built breaks at 9pm you are the one who fixes it. The work arrives as a goal rather than a spec, and you decide what to build.
WHAT YOU'LL DOTake ownership of high-impact product areas and ship customer-facing improvements daily, from whiteboard to production.
Rapidly iterate on UI, UX, and core application logic based on real user feedback and production data.
Decompose ambiguous product goals into clear engineering plans, execute them, and measure outcomes.
Work with the deployment team and directly with customers to understand where the product falls short, then decide what to do about it.
Our stack: Kubernetes, AWS GovCloud, Cloudflare Workers, Supabase, SvelteKit, TypeScript, Trigger.dev, Postgres, UDS.
WHAT YOU BRING5+ years of full-stack engineering with a proven record of shipping customer-facing features end-to-end.
Government or defense experience: building software for government users, working at a defense tech company, military service, or contracting work on either side of the table.
Strong frontend TypeScript skills with modern frameworks (Svelte/SvelteKit strongly preferred; React/Next.js acceptable).
Hands-on Postgres and backend TypeScript experience. You have designed schemas, written migrations, and optimized queries.
Ability to decompose ambiguous problems into shippable increments and communicate tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
Comfort operating in a fast-moving, early-stage environment where priorities shift and you own the outcome.
Nice to have: AI-first UX patterns, RAG pipelines, or AI agent architectures; experience in FedRAMP, IL, HIPAA, or other regulated environments; open-source work.
Clearance: not required. An active or previous clearance is a plus.
THE TEAMGovSignals was founded by four cofounders who lived with this problem from both sides (selling to the government and serving inside it) with backgrounds across the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of Energy, Palantir, Amazon, federal contractors building for missiles, and state contractors building for prisons. You'll work directly with all four. Other team members at GovSignals have shipped to defense companies, scaled venture-backed startups, and founded companies of their own.
